Cool, thanks for the information busman Any idea when 697 will arrive? RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2017 - dannygee - 09 Feb 2017 Seen 9099 before and it had on front 21 Newcastle but the side had 21 Durham and the back was blank. How come this happened? The gained extra contract work, i take it 3 will be allocated to the W1/W1A and 333? The extra(s) for the new 42A will be a/or solo's from the current 353 i take it?, any spare in will go in to "Go North East". Rest will allow more of the MPD's to be withdrawn, leaving 618 and 619 in service. RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2017 - thetravelman - 09 Feb 2017 Will the new 42A service be operated fully by Percy Main or will this service be shared with Riverside? Obviously Riverside do the current 353 service and looking at the new timetable for the 42A some of the journeys will start or finish completely at Kingston Park, mainly early morning or late evening, which would possibly incur quite a bit of dead mileage to/from Percy Main. Would have thought Percy Main - especially as it is going to interwork with the 40/41 on evenings/sundays. RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2017 - Ambassador - 09 Feb 2017 Is 9099 mechanically different from the Hybrids and B7s? Two nights in a row I've used it and it's like the driver has just passed their test. Seems to stall and overrev at bus stops and the drivers seemed to struggle with manouvering. Ride is comfy but drivers don't appear confident, whipping out the laminate guides to read through. I know from experience Chester drivers aren't the greatest and tend to drive like my dearly departed nan (particularly the older drivers) but surely it's not that much of a step change? Sorry not sure about your point here? I drive myself and I travel regularly on several different buses across the region. My point being you quoted from your experience most Chester drivers drive like your dear departed man, I ask if you can drive a bus or are qualified to comment on how a bus is driven, a bus is a lot harder to drive than a car. Does a person need to have a license to drive a bus to pass comment on how it feels to be a passenger on one? Especially when making a comparison between journeys made daily. Websites such as TripAdvisor have millions of reviews submitted by travellers who don't know the first thing about running a hotel or restaurant. Should we discount all of those too? Especially when making a comparison between journeys made daily.New drivers are new drivers, and any driver of any classification can tell you that you learn how to drive after passing your test. You learn how to drive to pass the test, and then you develop the real life skills of doing it in your own way - unsupervised. If it was two experienced drivers who were at the wheel and messing it up, maybe that would give more of a scope to comment. I don't hold a cat D/D1 license yet, but from all the holders I know, they all say that the real learning comes from experience on the road without an instructor. RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2017 - Dan - 11 Feb 2017 (11 Feb 2017, 12:16 pm)Andreos1 wrote https://twitter.com/gonortheast/status/830375456641863684 I think Go North East's increasing use of Social Media to report breakdowns is helpful for passengers waiting for a bus that isn't going to arrive. It potentially gives some customers time to make alternative travel arrangements, if it's absolutely crucial. These reports only seem to be done for infrequent services such as the Tyne Tees Xpress, presumably because the next bus would have arrived by the time a breakdown on a 10-minute frequency service had been noted on Social Media. I wonder how many breakdowns there are on a service like the Red Arrows, for example? We always seem to discuss the breakdowns on the Tyne Tees Xpress because Go North East have noted the breakdown on Social Media, but never discuss the reliability of the vehicles on the Red Arrows. This of course could be extended to other operators too. We never seem to discuss breakdowns for Arriva and Stagecoach - is this because their buses are more reliable and don't suffer mechanical defects as regularly as Go North East's buses, or is it because they don't record every breakdown on Social Media? RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2017 - Andreos1 - 11 Feb 2017 (11 Feb 2017, 12:36 pm)Dan wrote I think Go North East's increasing use of Social Media to report breakdowns is helpful for passengers waiting for a bus that isn't going to arrive. It potentially gives some customers time to make alternative travel arrangements, if it's absolutely crucial. Whilst the use of social media can be applauded in most cases, this one was tweeted 10minutes before its scheduled departure. Meaning for those standing in Middlesbrough (myself included), it was too late to do much about it or make alternative plans. That's more to do with the time the fault was identified and reported and understandably can't be helped. Fortunately, I was able to board the X12 and travel on another operators service. It was fortunate I happened to see the tweet when I did and be in the position to look for an alternative. Discussions regarding the X9/10 have stemmed from members witnessing vehicles parked up alongside the A19 with hazards on, because of seeing two buses being parked together in a layby with passengers getting transferred between vehicles AND tweets from the social media team. Just like apparent breakdowns on other routes (and operators) have been reported. There had been discussion regarding the X24 and vehicle reliability very recently. If reports regarding one particular service are more frequent than others, I am guessing it is only natural that it will be discussed. I know Stagecoach North East use Twitter, which i don't use, i also know they do report if services are running late - however like GNE not all of them are reported... No idea on Arriva tbh |
