(11 Apr 2014, 8:10 pm)peter wrote I doubt 7504 is going to go Sapphire. When the PVR of the X22 is 6 and Arriva are getting 6 brand new Sapphire Enviro 400's, and then the PVR of the X21 is 8 and Arriva have 8 09-reg Enviro 400's that could easily be refurbished (7514-7521), it hardly seems a coincidence. I think that the most likely reason for 7504 to be heading to Thorntons is just for some general maintence before heading to operate at Ashington as we all know the condition that the Enviro 400's have ended up in while at Redcar/Whitby so they probably could do with a bit of proffesional attention, hence also why I doubt they'll be going Sapphire. However an alternative (but also just as likely) theory as to why 7504 is heading to Thorntons is that it is going there to be refurbished to MAX specification for service X14.

I second that, 7504 is probably at Thorntons for a mid life refurbishment, as the interiors are starting to look tatty.

Could this possibly be a transfer to Darlington depot to replace the two Solos for the Whitby Park & Ride which starts next Friday.

Could well be. I've heard 1308 has gone to Darlington so that would be the second one.

Think it got returned to Redcar to have faults fixed. It's out on 64/64A today as I've just seen it 2 mins ago lol
7484 out in service on X93 today with 7502, 7513 and 4651, not seen the 5th one (1025/1525 deps)

RE: Arriva North East - Latest - Wellsey18 - 12 Apr 2014

Regarding the 23, I'm starting to think it could actually justify streetlites. The 13:37 departure from Sunderland came in full with 10 standees or so, while it left with around 3/4 of the seating capacity.

7486 is now in service at Redcar. 7492 has entered service at Ashington.

Arriva North East isn't my strong point, but I'm just wondering, has Scarlet Band taken over the 42 between Durham and Brasside, it's only I saw a Scarlet Band Solo on it at the Arnison Centre a few days ago?

I think both Scarlet Band and Arriva operate it.

Correct Tom. Both operate an hourly service so they're half hourly between them. Scarlet Band's interworks with the contracted 252 service. Arriva's interworks with service 6, and therefore sees "Captains Tale" branded Pulsars.

Can only imagine it to be a SNE or GNE vehicle on Market St.

Should be at Darlington - it and 1711 are the new replacements for 2827/8 instead of Redcar's 1309 and 1737.

Belmont rejected the transfer of one of the 1300 class Darts because it was fitted with a second hand engine/gearbox and is pretty ropey. perhaps this explains why 1712 is at Belmont

That'll be 1302 presumably. 1711/12 have had various bits of work done by Belmont, including PSV as both were out of test. Jesmond have also treated them to a repaint, they're cover for refurbishments taking place.

I was led to believe that 1302 has already transfered to Durham, unless it has transfered back, in theory they must be rejecting 1301 which is still 'supposed' to be at Darlington.

The contract for the H1/H2 ends on the 30th April, unless it is to be replaced, could the two solos used not be repainted and then subsequently used to replace 2827 and 2828 in the long-term?
