RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - peter - 22 Apr 2022 (22 Apr 2022, 12:40 pm)Unber43 wrote 78 have a longer layover in Sunderland, 78 has been delayed loads today and normal days, adding 1 to the PVR (durham culture one) may not be a bad idea to improve reliability The Durham Culture bus already makes up the PVR, the PVR is 8 since the service changes last year but there are only 7 branded buses RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Unber43 - 22 Apr 2022 (22 Apr 2022, 1:58 pm)peter wrote The Durham Culture bus already makes up the PVR, the PVR is 8 since the service changes last year but there are only 7 branded busesOh, well they should make it a PVR of 9, Maybe 10-15 mins in Sunderland and 7 mins each when at Consett as they are becoming constantly late. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Unber43 - 24 Apr 2022 (12 Apr 2022, 9:13 pm)Malarkey wrote With Service Cuts seeming to becoming the new norm here in the North East I have had a look through the Go North East Network to see if some of services could be consolidated into others improving local services in terms of recovering passenger numbers following on from Covid-19, the method of consolidation worked in parts when Go North East had a massive shake up of it's services in 2006 and is clearly needed again some 16 years later given how much services have been chopped and changed. I guess I have done the same you say but in turn also provided a more stable network of services in the long term. I have spent quite a few hours over the past week working on these whilst also throwing in some throwback services of the late 80's/90's into the early 00's reinstating some long lost local links.Wonder if anyone from GNE would listen to these. As for a newcastle express from Sunderland, might be worth doing a X56 via the A690 (non stop from Farrington), Amazon, Heworth - Newcastle. No one need Sunderland - South Shields every 10 mins, you could do it every 20 mins, two 20's, one 60. With the 20 going to Durham every 10. Maybe next you can do the fleets for it? RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - DaveFromUpNorth - 26 Apr 2022 Instead of X56 wouldn't it be better for the Stagecoach X24A to divert via Amazon for the Sland to Newcastle via Doxford International? Would make better sense than X56? RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - MurdnunoC - 26 Apr 2022 (26 Apr 2022, 11:10 am)DaveFromUpNorth wrote Instead of X56 wouldn't it be better for the Stagecoach X24A to divert via Amazon for the Sland to Newcastle via Doxford International? Would make better sense than X56? Once the road between Nissan and Follingsby Park is upgraded, which I believe is in the pipeline, there is probably a case for a diversion of the 56 along the new road, down Leam Lane and through Springwell Estate, if Amazon provided some funding towards it. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Storx - 26 Apr 2022 (26 Apr 2022, 11:18 am)MurdnunoC wrote Once the road between Nissan and Follingsby Park is upgraded, which I believe is in the pipeline, there is probably a case for a diversion of the 56 along the new road, down Leam Lane and through Springwell Estate, if Amazon provided some funding towards it. It's already been done, still narrow in parts apart from the IAMP end. I believe there are plans to have a bus gate at the IAMP / Nissan end though so it's buses / cycles only which would eliminate the problem with it being narrow as there's no-where to go in a car. The road has always been there, but it was always just a back road with very little maintenance. Ten last time I drove along it, which was about a year or so ago, there wasn't much change. Looking at Google Maps, it still looks the same. Probably still not suitable for loads of heavy traffic but I could be wrong. On another note, I once saw a couple who had been approached by a police car in a layby/passing place/entrance to a field, on Follingsby Lane. THey looked a bit shell-shocked and scantily-clad, I could only presume they had been caught in a compromising position, possibly an extramarital one. Must admit I haven't been around for a bit but didn't they redo it with new tarmac and new signage, it was quite decent along there last time I went along there ratrunning Testo's until the little bridge where it's just a mess but I think it's getting bypassed if they ever build the rest of IAMP (doubt it now with the pandemic etc). https://goo.gl/maps/MtJu2dpdHoFkmFeR7 - Looks still pretty nick to me last year if they cut the grass anyway. Ha made me laugh, it's quite a well known dogging spot along there like. One of my mates told me about it awhile back. God knows where he found that from mind... Huge improvements since years gone by. When it was a country lane with laybys and doggers. I would have been driving an old clapped-out blue Lynx van at the time. It was mid-afternoon, I know that much for sure. The bloke didn't seem that arsed, IIRC, but I think the woman was mortified. I wasn't working for Lynx directly, but through a franchisee-owner, which might explain why the van was blue. I was only there for about a month or two at the most, and it was 19 years ago, so it's possible I might have the colour wrong. The van definitely had Lynx decals. EDIT: Took a while to find, but, some were blue!! The van I had would have probably been around that age. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - ASX_Terranova - 12 May 2022 I have been looking at Washington & Sunderland timetables circa 2004/5/6/7 recently, this suggestion came about as a result. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Malarkey - 12 May 2022 (12 May 2022, 12:57 pm)ASX_Terranova wrote I have been looking at Washington & Sunderland timetables circa 2004/5/6/7 recently, this suggestion came about as a result. You already have the 2/2A/ & 8 that cover these areas already with the exception of Pallion Retail Park which is not within Go North East's operating area unless it's the Evening/Sundays Only 135/136, plus you have Stagecoach who provide services 11/18/18A and 99 for connections between City Centre/Royal Hospital and Pallion Retail Park through to Ryhope also. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Ambassador - 12 May 2022 Anyone considered what the impact of the Eighton Lodge White Elephant….I mean park and ride will have on services? Can’t see GNE amending their crown jewel of the 21 and when you’re that close to Newcastle….why would you park the car? RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Malarkey - 12 May 2022 (12 May 2022, 8:37 pm)Ambassador wrote Anyone considered what the impact of the Eighton Lodge White Elephant….I mean park and ride will have on services? I don't think it will have any impact on GNE Crown Jewels as i'd imagine separate services would be set up from the Park & Ride prior to it becoming operational in which I would hope to see something popping on on Vosa in the coming months for a tender for potential services as the BSIP did stipulate this with services operating with Articulated Buses. In Leeds you have Stourton Park & Ride which has Arriva Yorkshire Services 110/444 & 446 running straight past it and following the same route as the PR3 into Leeds City Centre from Wakefield Road then you further Arriva Services 140/140A/141/167 & 168 joining from Pontefract Road with no impact at all as the PR3 is only service to serve the Park & Ride, likewise the other Park & Rides at Elland & Temple Green are the same. Elsewhere same operation is in place in York for their various Park & Rides across the City and we have the same here in North East with the Park & Rides in Durham with others services stopping at nearby stops a short distance away. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - omnicity4659 - 12 May 2022 Any further P&Rs are a waste of money. Get Great Park working, then try another one in partnership with the MetroCentre (either utilising centre parking or the unused back of staff car park). Once those ones are successful, then we can consider pouring more tarmac onto fields. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Storx - 13 May 2022 (12 May 2022, 11:19 pm)omnicity4659 wrote Any further P&Rs are a waste of money. Get Great Park working, then try another one in partnership with the MetroCentre (either utilising centre parking or the unused back of staff car park). Great Park P&R is pointless. There's one 1 mile down the road at the Regent Centre which would be twice as quick. There's no need for it there. P&R's don't work anyway unless it's somewhere like York or Durham where parking is difficult / it's hard to get into the place your going to which isn't Newcastle by any stretch of the imagination. Also no-one is going to park at one to then use a bus which takes longer than driving to the same place. Its a waste of money by out of touch councillers. I have a small SUV and I struggle to get it around all the ramps, so that's enough to not use it again. I'm against the 'pay twice' way of park and rides too. Well, technically parking is free, but you have to have a bus ticket Always found Durham P&R to be a good deal. The tickets were valid on the Cathedral Bus the last time I used it too. £1.20 to park at Regent Centre and £2.80 return on Arriva... £4 isn't that bad but having to pay twice would be the hassle. Especially when barely any car parks have card readers. Aye that's a fair point but surely it would be cheaper to just rebuild the car park there (tbf the whole Metro Station could do with being redone the interchange is pretty crap compared to others) rather than having a duplicate bus service. Honestly I think GNE could take over SC Sunderland network if they had the money. Can’t see stagecoach giving in Sunderland operations Gne already asked the availability of stagecoach operations in South Shields and Hartlepool, Hartlepool was turned down flat from the start, and South Shields was 80/20 in stagecoach favour but nothing came out of it. I wouldn’t be surprised if shields was closed down with all operations running from Sunderland as there’s enough room On the service 7 suggestion: I’m keeping that number available when the 78 gets renumbered to the 7, which should of been done years ago when the X8 got renumbered as a 8 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Unber43 - 14 May 2022 (14 May 2022, 4:43 pm)cbma06 wrote Can’t see stagecoach giving in Sunderland operationsif GNE duplicate all of SC routes with cheaper and advertised fares or the same fares im pretty sure they would pick GNE over SC. I know my friends who have to use SC and there family if GNE were to run routes in that area they would 100% switch. Last time i heart SC in Hartlepool's fleet are dying with mechanics trying there best. SC would probs give GNE Hartlepool and South Sheilds ops for the right money. imo it would be better for passengers. |
