That is a good possible idea.

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2017 - Michael - 20 Oct 2017

Maybe, the see it do it brand will be dropped from the 35, leaving only the 36 as the brand.

35 in "Go North East"

Or like it was said.... Could be the spare.

Suggestions on other names? I quite like 'The 21'...says it all

I'm doubtful that Go North East will move away from the "Angel" brand name - it is, by far, the company's top performing service. The brand can't be that tainted, if customers keep coming back to use service 21.

It would be even more illogical to move away from this brand name, when the Angel turns 20 next year (which is naturally going to attract people to the structure).

It'll be even better in 2019 - "catch the Angel 21 bus to celebrate the Angel of the North's 21st birthday!"  Big Grin

Is it just me or were they returning buses on a Monday aswell as a friday? Aroundthe time when the crusaders were done

They were originally taking two a week and bringing back two a week (one early on in the week and the other late on in the week) but the most recent examples have all been Friday morning drop-off and collect jobs.

Obviously taking more time now, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

They also might have other work on at the same time. Its going to take a while to get through the last of the batch if only 1 a week is going.

Suspect as we approach the end of the batch, it will speed up again with two per week delivered, but the refurbishment work is likely to be ongoing until the end of January at the earliest, with 13 more to go.

Still means that Go North East have 8 buses away at any given time, and they couldn't really afford to have any more than that away at once (especially when they have their own repaint programme ongoing at Saltmeadows Road).

Damaged by what? Is it the subject of some scandal silenced only by a superinjunction? Caught snorting a line of diesel behind the bus shed with an elderly loop?

Top performing service...which it has been since year dot, since it was the 723, the 221, the '21/24hr' etc, it's hardly down to any stroke of genius on GNE's part that its successful. It's on a very busy and lucrative (with those fare rises even more so!) corridor where there is extremely limited to no competition. It's a bit like praising a turkey farm for great sales at Christmas.

I've not been on a branded vehicle all week. I've been on 4 Solars (5215 today's example) and some B7s. It's entirely conceivable a visitor using the 21 would be entirely unaware that its even branded!

What's next to go in for repaint, after 5229-5232?

5211 expired in Jarrow today and was recovered by an Ian Bradley wrecker. Don't know how long it had been there, but it was awaiting a lift at 1330.

Id say they will start repainting the following:
Saltwell Park's 8339-8346
Drifter's 5369-5376
Citylink 58's 5377-5384
Connections 4 5357-5368
Fab fifty six 6086-6098
Cobalt clipper 6101-6117
And ventures are getting done .

Are Washington going to receive any further deckers. There was a rumour a while ago 3941 and 3942 but they show as at Hexham?

Haha. Has anything being rumoured about different buses for the 50. A washington driver told me a few weeks ago theyd heard the scanias where going due to reliability and with the Angels going to P M. For the 1 I was wondering if there's any truth in it

Ye, Citaro's for the 5 and 50, although that doesn't seem to be true and the Omnicities to Deptford for the 35, that doesn't seem likely, as Deptford have never had Omnicities on a permanent bases.

Hybrids to the Coaster has been rumoured for ages, not sure how true though, if it was, the Omnicities would likely stay at Percy Main for the 11 and 19, replacing all of the Scania's and Eclipses.

I wouldn't mind Omnicities in Sunderland, but i doubt that would happen on a permanent bases.... it was said on here a couple of weeks ago, that the new Streetdecks for the 21, would be arriving in December/January, once again, not sure how true that is.

6135 and 6140 are both at Stanley now - could it not be 6146 at Chester-le-Street for maintenence or whatever?

I can't see what's so special about these new destination screens design

Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2017 - Jamie M - 21 Oct 2017

Are we having a discussion about why enthusiasts are being enthusiastic..?

I personally quite like the change, the destination points are never very helpful, so may as well be a bit more presentable. Also allows night photography to be a bit nicer, instead of the bottom row just being a rectangle of orange/white due to the log delay + text.
