RE: September Service Changes - Michael - 29 Jul 2021

310/319 also making a come back, another long route.

No. The 10/11 are being extended from the Tyne Tunnel to Blyth and Cramlington respectively. I think this change belongs in the Stagecoach Upcoming Service Changes thread though.

RE: September Service Changes - Stanleyone - 29 Jul 2021

(29 Jul 2021, 7:39 pm)L469 YVK wrote Allocations wise, it would presumably be 6341-51 with 6336 as the spare with a bike rack for the X30/X31 & X70/X71/X72.

6338-40 perhaps make up allocation for X45/X46/X47 (if largely unchanged) with either 6331-33 or 6301-03 making up extras for the extended X1.
X47 is to be replaced by 47/47a (which will stop through Duston replacing the 97 I'm led to believe), so I doubt it'll be operated by Xlines buses, maybe ex coaster B5s?

(29 Jul 2021, 7:42 pm)Andreos1 wrote He did, but it still doesn't take away the fact that they were still pushing ahead with changes, based on NPower moving out and were totally ignorant of new tenants moving in.

The changes were due to be made months ago. The decision for Just Eat moving in, was announced months ago.

When was it announced that Just Eat would be moving in, just had a quick search on the web, and cannot see anything?

That would be an interesting move by Stagecoach, if it was ever to happen.

Wow, very interesting! Is the X45 / X46 going to be every 15 minutes combined? That was a PVR of 10x IIRC when 45/46 but could be done with a PVR of 9x but would only leave 5 minutes layover In Consett although 7 minutes at Eldon Square.

Yes. Don't know how the 47/47a will fit in at Rowlands Gill.

I've not checked, but I believe April/May time was when the official announcement was made.

If citaro5284 cannot easily find this on the web, and it would seem Go North East’s commercial team were unaware, and through the months of consultation with councils and local authorities absolutely nobody has mentioned this to the company as being a potential issue………

Contrary to what you suggested in your last post, there has been months of consultation with local authorities. Maybe they weren’t aware either!

Not sure if they have offices already in Sunderland, but there's this job listing on their website: https://careers.just-eat.com/opportunities/R0006531.

RE: September Service Changes - V514DFT - 29 Jul 2021

Lots of people saying routes as a wind up?

It was April time, as it was mentioned to staff being made redundant from nPower. I managed to find the post again on social media, but the job ad link is dead.

Also to note its the Just Eat customer services contract, but US firm Concentrix are the outsourced provider.

It's ok the staff don't need a bus service as they all have bikes & mopeds through the company bike to work scheme Tongue

RE: September Service Changes - Ambassador - 29 Jul 2021

Would be strange for Concentrix to open another site, they’ve invested heavily in the city centre Stephenson Quarter site and they’ve got a huge base at Quorum too.

Not sure why they’d move to Rainton or expand there when they have capacity in Newcastle.

At least two people on the forum knew.
Comments from MG indicated staff at depot level knew.

Whereas the team making decisions that impact on passengers and the people they're speaking with in Sunderland Council, were totally oblivious.

Where was the proactive work from the decision makers? Did they speak with Landlords? Contacts at Rainton Bridge? People within the appropriate department at the Civic Centre?
Im just pleased those at depot level were aware! Could have been pretty awkward trying to spin the withdrawal of a service, just as commuters start trying to get to work!

Not the NPower that GNE have such an excellent relationship with is it?
Someone else keeping secrets from them Wink

Thanks for confirming the date of the official announcement too.
Had a feeling it was around that time.

Who's normally consulted as part of any changes, out of interest?

I mean I'd hope the local authority knew about it, given that they're the landlord!

Wow…

I suspect the business contact at nPower was made redundant before most - if they’re no longer in employment and other employees at nPower were worried about job security, bit of a struggle for them to pass on the information.

You're trying to say that there's only one contact in there and when they were made redundant, nobody else took up the reigns, communicated with GNE and let them know when the 921 was likely to carry more fresh air than normal from a certain date?
No ending of agreements?
No negotiations with contracts?
No business relationship, that involves conversation and rapport, following years of communication?

Pretty amazing if that is the case.
Wow!

You’re stooping pretty low here, mind, Andreos. You can make a point without being petty and over labouring it.

Wow...

Let's look at the positives. Depot level staff knew what was going on, their comments were listened to and changes were made as a result. Meaning that the area hasn't lost links, connections haven't been lost and people at Just Eat and the other businesses around there, can get to and from work.
The extra bonus is that it could mean there's less traffic causing issues to the 4 and 71 too.

Wow!
The 921 contract ended in August last year. The person who co-ordinated transport left not long after. As Npower employees continued to work from home, there was no need to engage with transport providers as almost no one was working from the offices

To be fair, I'd say its far from being uncommon for one person in an organisation to have responsibility for managing a contract. An account manager, if you like.

Rainton nPower has been on a ramping down of operations for a good 12+ months now. Most people left at the end were on retainers and holding out for a package, so you can hardly blame them for not having the same level of enthusiasm as the bus operator may have.

The main point surely is that a need has been identified and its been quickly corrected, and I'm sure there'll be further discussions around that.

I'm more alarmed that Sunderland City Council didn't know they had let one of their flagship office spaces out, but I think we both know the degree of which a 'not my job' attitude can exist in large public sector organisations.
