It was rather random to say the very least, perhaps we are reading into it too much.

Think it would be a good idea not to allocate a Double Decker to the X1A on the 14th/15th July, best give Washington Depot a heads up Wink

I can't see why not. Basically it's going over Fatfield Bridge (16ft), then joining the Washington Highway at the Fatfield turn off.

Basically this is the route...

Yeah but Fatfield Bridge has a Weight Restriction, plus what is the Height of a B9TL for example.

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - Rapidsnap - 10 Jul 2015

Height of most Double Deckers are around 14ft. Think the Geminis are 14ft 3in. It does have a weight restriction of 7.5t but that only applies to HGVs.

Think the highest double deckers I've seen were Alexander RH bodied Leyland Lions which were touching 15ft. Highest deck Go-Ahead Northern had were the highbridge Bristol VRs of which 3401 and 3406 are preserved.

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - G-CPTN - 10 Jul 2015

three overhead lattice bracings for wind pressure and which afford a clear height of 14ft for traffic.

do not think 5218 will transfer to Deptford due to it being branded for Highwayman services only time it will transfer was if the Highwayman services were changing eg the PVR goes down just by 1 or if new vehicles were on order for Highwayman this vehicle would be going red and further transfer to a different depot

(09 Jul 2015, 10:46 pm)GMitchelhill wrote Actually the break down is likely to be as follows.....

Q1 / Q2 has a PVR of 13
Q3 has a PVR of 6.

8310-8315 are likely to be branded for Q3

8317/8318/8328-8338 are likely to be branded for Q1/Q2.

8316 could be the Pride bus. However, 8316 could be branded for either route with either 8310 or 8338 receiving the pride livery.
The 19 yellow Versa will be 8310-8318, 8329-8338.

8310-8315 will be the green ones.

The pride bus is expected to be out of the purple ones.

8328 should become a red spare.

I would of liked to see it on the Citaro's more than the Cadets..... would be good to see the 35/35A/36 also gain "Black Cats" brand but on the gold base... would be good to see it on all of the non branded routes in Sunderland, if i'm being honest!

Why should we forget about the East Durham Solo being due?

With the Expansion of Tynedale Links routes - New Services 680 and 682 serving the North Tyne Valley from Hexham, I assume this may mean Hexham may need an extra bus or two.

Do they have enough spare buses at Hexham or will the rearrange of a couple of services create enough buses to operate these New services or is it likely that Hexham will get another bus or two.

If they do get another bus or two - do you think it is likely it will be a Transbus MPD/Mini Pointer like some of the other Tynedale Links fleet.

I am pleased GNE have taken on these routes and it would be good to see more coming in the future.

I would have thought that they may need an extra vehicle somewhere along the line.

Does anyone know if you can listen to the drivers and control via a scanner, is there much transmission between them.

If so, does anyone know what frequency to use.

I often use my scanner for listening to aircraft, just wondered if you can do the same with buses.

Cheers

GNEs system is digital I believe, so I'd be very surprised if they aren't encrypting their traffic.

Just standing at Saltmeadows Road depot, it would appear Wright Renown 4846 has been disposed of.

It was involved in an incident earlier today which resulted in the cancellation of the service it was operating (later replaced by another bus) - see this Tweet for confirmation.

Hope it was just a passenger being ill rather than a 'crash' incident. Couldn't have happened to a nicer looking bus like.

When are the last of the purple "Toon Link" branded Wright Renowns due to be withdrawn?

When the remaining omnicities entre service.

Also, has 4987 transferred to Deptford permanently or just temporally?

It's properly transferred, but 4897 is just a float vehicle so can in theory transfer to any location without needing to be replaced as it's just an extra bus in the fleet.

At the moment, it's covering for Deptford's Mercs which are being repainted for services 35/36.
