RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - ALavery - 28 Feb 2023 (27 Feb 2023, 6:41 pm)Unber43 wrote I feel like a newcastle link would be useful for the 71, that could be either 21 service from Chester-Le-Street to Seaham, or an X1 which only goes to Houghton then goes to Seaham.I could see this being of use at peak times like but they have the 71 at peak times already and an hourly bus on top of that so its not really needed up the business park.i live on princess road and tbh as nice as it would be apart from the 60 I dont think any bus bigger than a solo should be going down that road, even then ive seen my fair share of collisions on the 62/202. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Unber43 - 28 Feb 2023 60 go that way running dead, but idk. I've never heard of anything happening their, it seems to just be that Dawdon turn where things happen. And you're probably right, a decker would be too big for the road RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - ASX_Terranova - 03 Mar 2023 Idea A: Quarrington, Kelloe, Coxhoe, Dragonville, Belmont, Leamside, Bournmoor, Biddick Woods, Washington Galleries, then as X1 to Newcastle. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - User2613 - 28 Mar 2023 New X20 Park Lane - Houghton Church via 20 route serving all stops. Then follows A690 nonstop until Carville. Carville - Eden Terrace (Durham City Retail Park) serving all stops. Eden Terrace - North Road via Belmont link road to A690 and direct to Milburngate Bridge. North Road - Chester-Le Street via X21 route. Chester Le Street - Lumley Church via Picktree Lane, A167 and Lumley New Road. Then Lumley Church - Chilton Moor Front Street via Front Street and Black Boy Road. Chilton Moor Front Street - Houghton Church via Dairy Lane. Houghton Church - Park Lane via 20 route serving all stops. X20A is the reverse of above both operating every 30 minutes providing a bus every 15 minutes between park lane and Houghton, an alternative bus between Houghton and Chester, a through bus from Lumley to Durham and coordinating with x21 between Durham and Chester to give an express bus every 15 minutes. PVR 8-9 depending on either a 6 or 21 minute layover in Sunderland Estimated timing included below. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Unber43 - 28 Mar 2023 It shouldn't be serving every stop from Sunderland to Houghton, it should be Park Lane, University, Barnes, Bede, Prospect Non-Stop to Houghton. It should be 35-40 mins going to Durham not 60 mins There needs to also be smh done about Rainton bridge its been totally cut off, barely any buses early morning/ late days (especially on Sundays) RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Washingtonian - 28 Mar 2023 Service 4 - reduced to every half hour Mon - Sat, hourly evenings and Sundays New Service 4A - Houghton-le-Spring - Herrington Burn - Shiney Row - Penshaw - Fatfield Bridge - Fallowfield Way - Washington Arts Centre - Glebe - Washington Galleries - Albany - Concord - Donwell - Usworth College - Follingsby Park - Leam Lane/Lingey Lane - Heworth (Mon - Sat half hourly, evenings and Sundays hourly) New Service X4 - Easington Lane - Hetton le Hole - Houghton le Spring - Fence Houses - Bournmoor - Shiney Row - Biddick Woods - Washington Galleries - Springwell Village - Leam Lane/Lingey Lane - Heworth Metro - Gateshead (via Felling-by-pass) - Newcastle (Mon - Sat half hourly, evenings and Sundays hourly) Service X1 - To maintain current route but reduced to half hourly Mon - Sun, evenings hourly alongside X4 New Services 74 and 75 (Replacing Service 8) New Service 74 - Washington Galleries - Glebe -Washington Village - Barmston Waskerley Road - Barmston Village Centre - A1231 Slip road - Waterview Park - Teal Farm - Castletown - Hylton Riverside Retail Park - Sunderland Interchange (Mon - Sat hourly, evenings and Sundays hourly) New Service 75- Washington Galleries - Biddick - Teal Farm - Waterview Park - Castletown - Trimdon Street Retail Park - Sunderland Interchange (Mon - Sat hourly) Option to extend 74 and 75 to Silksworth or run a new seperate service. Service 2 - renumbered to 76 - Washington Galleries - Lambton - Harraton - Fatfield Bridge - Barnwell - Hastings Hill - Sunderland Royal Hospital - Sunderland Interchange (Mon - Sat half hourly, evenings and Sundays hourly) - extend to Biddick on evenings. This service would serve Barnwell instead of Penshaw and Shiney Row, which would be served by the Service 77. New Service 77 - Stanley - Beamish - West Pellton - Pelton - Chester le Street - Picktree - Rickleton - Harraton - Washington Arts Centre - Fallowfield Way - Fatfield Bridge - Penshaw - Shiney Row - Hastings Hill - Sunderland Royal Hospital - Sunderland Interchange (Mon - Sun half hourly, evenings hourly) Revised Service 83 - Chester le Street - Birtley - Portobello - Barley Mow - Rickleton - Harraton - Lambton - Washington Galleries - Concord - Sulgrave - Peel Retail Park - Waterview Park (Mon - Sat half hourly, evenings and Sundays hourly) Option to extend to Stanley and Beamish Service 50 - As a result of these proposed new services and service changes, Service 50 will no longer serve Harraton, and Rickleton Village Centre. Service 50 would be rerouted to serve Washington Hospital and continue to serve Picktree. This would allow for journeys to be more direct and improve reliablility. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - V514DFT - 28 Mar 2023 (28 Mar 2023, 4:08 pm)Washingtonian wrote Service 4 - reduced to every half hour Mon - Sat, hourly evenings and SundaysWhat about the existing 74? Suppose you could add a 1 in so it becomes the 714 RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - User2613 - 28 Mar 2023 (28 Mar 2023, 3:51 pm)Unber43 wrote It shouldn't be serving every stop from Sunderland to Houghton, it should be Park Lane, University, Barnes, Bede, Prospect Non-Stop to Houghton. The Sunderland-Durham via A690 section takes 43 minutes each way. Realistically no one is going to go from Sunderland to Durham via Lumley and Chester. That’s not what it’s for. That section is for shorter hops. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Washingtonian - 28 Mar 2023 (28 Mar 2023, 4:24 pm)V514DFT wrote What about the existing 74? Suppose you could add a 1 in so it becomes the 714 Oh Sugar I overlooked that! Thanks for pointing that out. I suppose my propsed services could be numbered 75 and 75A instead of having another 74 maybe. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - nova347 - 28 Mar 2023 I really didnt know where to put this but what is up with Hexhams 1003, it tracks as if it's not a route and GNE doesn't even have it on their website. Yet I've just seen a photo of Halswhistle 1003, destination display on a bus. But I just thought this was like a private hire when I saw it on bus times or thought it was driver change over for 681 (which is pretty stupid thought) but like why isn't it on the website or anything and how often does it run?? If a more suitable thread please move it RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Jimmi - 28 Mar 2023 (28 Mar 2023, 8:30 pm)nova347 wrote I really didnt know where to put this but what is up with Hexhams 1003, it tracks as if it's not a route and GNE doesn't even have it on their website. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - ASX_Terranova - 29 Mar 2023 Interesting idea, how about sending the 27 to felling square. I Have attached a screenshot showing the potential new route. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Storx - 29 Mar 2023 (29 Mar 2023, 1:16 pm)ASX_Terranova wrote Interesting idea, how about sending the 27 to felling square. Not sure that's a good idea. There's already the 51/52 and 58 up in Felling so you're just going to take passengers off that and potentially make it unprofitable. Not to mention most people will walk down the hill and use the Metro anyway tbh (has roughly 750k users a year and there's nothing at the other side of the line pretty much). RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - V514DFT - 29 Mar 2023 Didnt the 27 serve Felling Square once upon a time? RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - LVK 404L - 29 Mar 2023 V514DFTDidnt the 27 serve Felling Square once upon a time? Not the 27 in its present state and neither its predecessors the 532. The original 527 did which went to Marlborough/Central Station via Windy Nook/ Deckham etc. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - V514DFT - 29 Mar 2023 (29 Mar 2023, 5:05 pm)ifm001 wrote V514DFTDidnt the 27 serve Felling Square once upon a time?Yeah, i knew it was either the 27 or the 527, i know it was a while back now though RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Washingtonian - 29 Mar 2023 (28 Mar 2023, 4:08 pm)Washingtonian wrote Service 4 - reduced to every half hour Mon - Sat, hourly evenings and Sundays Forgot to add another service onto this: - New Service X2 - Sunderland Interchange - Sunderland Royal Hospital - Hastings Hill - Washington Galleries (non stop) - Portobello - Birtley Northside Mount Pleasant Road - Eighton Banks - Wrekenton High Street - QE Hospital - Gateshead Interchange - Newcastle Eldon Square (Mon - Sat every half hour) Service 25 would be withdrawn. SUMMARY The proposed changes would give (from Washington Galleries: -) 6 buses per hour to Heworth Mon - Sat, 3 on evenings and Sundays 6 buses per hour to Newcastle and Gateshead Mon - Sat, 2 on evenings and 3 on Sundays 8 buses per hour to Houghton le Spring Mon - Sat, 4 on evenings and 5 on Sundays 6 buses per hour to Sunderland Mon - Sat, 2 on evenings and Sundays 4 buses per hour to QE Hospital Mon - Sat, 1 on evenings and 2 on Sundays. Service X4 could be rerouted to serve Wrekenton and QE Hospital on evenings if an extra bus is needed. 4 buses per hour to Sunderland Royal Hospital Mon - Sat, 1 per evenings and Sundays. Option of extending propsed Service 75 on evenings to serve Sunderland Royal Hospital and University of Sunderland via Hylton Road from Hylton Riverside/Trimdon Street Retail Park. 4 buses per hour to Waterview Park Mon - Sat, 2 on evenings and Sundays 4 buses per hour to Chester le Street Mon - Sat, 2 on evenings and Sundays RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - Robbie64 - 31 Mar 2023 Mine is a straightforward suggestion. For the buses running as service numbers 84 and 85 in Washington: 84 - to run in a continuous clockwise loop 85 - to run in a continuous anti-clockwise loop. Presently, the two service numbers interoperate in that service number 84 runs from Concord in a clockwise direction Concord - Barmston - Columbia - Galleries - Oxclose - Blackfell - Concord while the 85 runs in the opposite (anti-clockwise) direction Concord - Blackfell - Oxclose - Galleries - Columbia - Barmston - Concord. Once a service returns back to Concord (eg the 84), the bus then changes to the other service number (eg the 85) and effectively doubles back on the route it has just travelled from. My suggestion would be to have the 84 run in a continuous clockwise route (i.e. don't change to the 85 when back at Concord) with the 85 doing likewise in an anti-clockwise route. This will help speed up travelling times between places which are near the start of one one service route (for example, Peel Retail Park on the 84) and near the end of the other service route (for example Donwell on the 85). Presently to travel from Donwell to Peel is a 40 minute journey. This would change to a 10 minute journey (plus layover times at Concord). It also helps make it easier to track a bus on the app. At present, if I am at Concord waiting for the 84 I have to track the 85 to see where it is. It is the same for the 85 at Concord, I have to track the 84 to see where it is. With buses travelling in a constant loop under one route number this would not be necessary. The 84 / 85 also serves Coach Road Estate once an hour. This would continue. As per above, the actual route the 84 and 85 cover would remain the same. The change would be to how buses cover those two service numbers. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions v2 - BusLoverMum - 31 Mar 2023 (29 Mar 2023, 1:16 pm)ASX_Terranova wrote Interesting idea, how about sending the 27 to felling square. That harks back to the bad old days of the 80s when Sunderland road had no buses because Metro. |
