Agreed, Why do we keep getting suggestions for services to Crook? If GNE were to do a service from there it would probably be commercial suicide, the current X46 is just a dead run back to the depot from Durham and has carried pretty much fresh air everytime I've seen it. From my experience it was pretty quiet, although some journeys were quite heavily used. It wasn't really much use for commuters with the first journey from Hebburn at around 10, and the final from Newcastle at about half past 4. Based on overcrowding on the 36 and the downgrading of Hartlepool Hospital with many services now at North Tees but there is still no public bus link. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions - James101 - 14 Feb 2016 (14 Feb 2016, 10:59 pm)Kuyoyo wrote The Hospital Trust already provide a shuttle bus between the two hospital, and the previous attempt at a proper bus service didn't last long. I'm aware of this shuttle; though it's a poorly advertised service which requires pre-booking with an irregular timetable and priority is given to NHS staff. Being left behind is a real risk! Also people aren't likely to be traveling from Hartlepool Hospital direct to North Tees. The reality is they're going from their homes, the suggested route runs through much of the town to reach the A689 and could pick up en route. I believe it could also pick up some 36 passengers fed up going the 'long way' through Hartlepool and Greatham. Plus a fast link between Billingham and Stockton. Also the justification of 2 extra buses in the PVR RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions - Jimmi - 15 Feb 2016 (14 Feb 2016, 11:04 pm)biglugs@yahoo.com wrote X10 newcastle -gateshead -heworth -concord-Sulgrave -nissan-a19-peterlee by pass-norton-stockton -middlesbroughWould probably only be 5 or so minutes faster at getting from Newcastle to Concord than the 56. Also making the X10 (or X9) routes any longer than they are now especially adding as long as 25 minutes to the timetable would be a recipe for disaster, not sure people many people would want to spend nearly two hours on a bus between Middlesbrough and Newcastle. They would have a choice as the x9 will be the faster option RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions - Jimmi - 15 Feb 2016 (15 Feb 2016, 12:25 am)biglugs@yahoo.com wrote They would have a choice as the x9 will be the faster optionYeah but you'd be going down from two fast buses an hour to one, having two buses an hour is probably something that makes the X9/X10 a more attractive option than the train which runs hourly and takes roughly the same length of time as the X9/X10, if you were to change the X10 to take nearly two hours (although the X9 would stay the same) it may be enough for people to choose the train over the X9/X10. Also adding 25 minutes to the route would mean that the times wouldn't match up, you would end up with the X10 having to leave either Newcastle or Middlesbrough at the same time as the X9. Also passengers in Stockton and Norton would not have the alternative of the fast bus to Newcastle as the X9 runs via Billingham, plus I'm assuming this would be the Sunday route as well which would take 2 hours and that's not including layover times, this suggestion would probably come very close to the maximum number of hours a driver can do without a break on a route with a tachograph and on this route where if something goes wrong on the A19 and heavily delays the service, it may be unable to complete the journey. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions - biglugs@yahoo.com - 20 Feb 2016 55 stockton-darlington-shildon-spennymoor 55 will replace service 7 by weardale also extend go north east to Darlington. And if replacing weardales 7 itll mean no confusion with sapphire 7 Also a Saturday operation as well as mon-fri RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions - Jimmi - 20 Feb 2016 (20 Feb 2016, 8:53 pm)biglugs@yahoo.com wrote 55 stockton-darlington-shildon-spennymoor Go North East's last crack at that area didn't end well, so I'd imagine this would likely meet the same fate. Also the 7 is supported by Durham County Council so I don't think it would be commercially viable, also you'd struggle to compete with Arriva, especially between Darlington and Shildon especially if it ran on a hourly frequency. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions - park5354 - 21 Feb 2016 Services X84/X85 These services rebranded as TOONLINK, using 5234-8. Services 12/12A Unbranded, using repainted 5229-33. 5229-33 would gain tachographs (from 4941/49/67, 5227/8) after recalibration. These changes would give a better standard of vehicle on TTX WHEN REQUIRED, as wifi and high backed seats are fitted. Wifi would be fitted to 5234-8. RE: Go North East: Service Suggestions - Andreos1 - 21 Feb 2016 53/54. To continue the current route, but to add on a figure of 8 loop at the southern end, to incorporate Low Fell and Chowdene. The idea being that it takes away some of the pressure on existing long distance Durham Road services. ...Bensham Bank, Saltwell Road, Belle Vue Bank, Durham Road, Chowdene Bank, Saltwell Road - current route beyond Saltwell Park. ...Saltwell Road, Chowdene Bank, Durham Road, Belle Vue Bank, Saltwell Road, Bensham Bank - current route beyond Bensham Bank. Frequency to be reduced or PVR increased. |
