To be fair could say about all transport across England really. I know we all have our hates but it's one thing you have to give credit we don't suffer from unlike even some European countries, some of Paris' Metro trains are (or were) grim as an understatement, for starters.
No doubt all part of the broken windows theory.

There's a few like that now. I ended up having one packed, and during the Summer. Absolutely awful experience, and I'm thankful it didn't run out of steam somewhere!

The rare metro I get is generally inside a semi-good condition I won't lie but there's a reason Arriva Northumbria chose to go without padded headrests for their new Enviros as well as the Streetdecks with GNE the amount of headrests has been replaced to the wireless charger holder things getting snapped off.

It's alright because the Metro is now suspended between Heworth and Monument and unless they sort something out asap, no doubt South of Monument completely soon as the trains are all stranded.

Only for very light maintenance and repairs.
If the trains cannot have their usual exams, they’ll run out of miles and won’t be able to run.

As someone has mentioned after it's only light maintenance etc. Not to mention if the units aren't having proper checks, I'm unsure whether they'll want them running on the Network Rail tracks causing bother.
I meant soon as in days / weeks there btw rather than hours, just to make it clear. Can see how it could read as asap.

Nothing wrong with that, they were always planned to be brought into service over a couple of years. The fact they've got trains stuck out there probably isn't helping either.

Metro services resume between Heworth and Monument from 31st December 2024.
Service is every 24 minutes on each line due to a shortage of servicable trains (mainly as the ones stuck South of the Tyne desperately need some maintenance).
Metro Replacement bus will still be in operation between Heworth and Monument. Obviously Nexus already paid the bus companies to run and are probably charging Gateshead Council for the trouble.

Does anyone know what the min headway on the metro in the core is?
I'm wondering what will happen to the Washington line trains if they will go back up through the core making the headway 2 mins at peak with all things working properly.
If these went up to Regent Centre there could be a consideration of them integrating the buses and terminating some there, instead of ramming them through Gosforth to Haymarket.

Currently every 6 minutes when the 555 ars fully in service this should go up to every 5 minutes.
When the peak time journeys ran there was a train every 3 minutes at peak times

I don't know whether things have changed but one of the documents which has been released about it (sorry can't remember which) had the plans as 3 trains running through to Monkseaton and the other 3 trains terminating short at Heworth.
Plans might have changed though.

Have they been on the Airport > South Hylton line or are they upgrading St James > Shields first then putting all the old stock on the Airport > South Hylton?

For the time being they are running only on the Yellow line one of them is on the duty that Finishes at South Gosforth at 19:15

Apparently Nexus/Metro are ramping up the deliveries this year and plan to have a good chunk of them in service by the end of 2025, first delivery of 2025 is due to take place in the next few weeks (roundabout the week of the 17th) but how reliable that date is, only time will tell

Has anyone had a bad experience with the POP app glitching since the new update? The map tracking and the estimated arrival times are half the time wrong and no longer updated every minute like it did pre-map tracking.

The first new unit to operate to Sunderland and South Hylton in passenger service was introduced today, 18 February 2025.
New Metro fleet enters customer service on the Sunderland line | nexus.org.uk
An item on Railforums states that diagram T102 is the diagram involved. It is Monday to Friday only for the time being.
