North East Bus Stations - Dan - 26 Aug 2014 (26 Aug 2014, 8:01 pm)Andreos Constantopolous wrote Aye, x90, x3, x4 and if I remember right, the x5 all served the estate at one point or another - missing the stops out.Imagine it's because the stands are quite busy as it is? The X1 can often have waiting time there, and the 4 likewise. Adding another bus to the mix would mean buses going onto the stand behind possibly. The X1 can often have waiting time there, and the 4 likewise. That was my initial thoughts, but then look at the number of services (and frequency) which use the stand (can never remember numbers), the 37 does use. W5/W6 stand behind it. The Silver Arrows doesn't tend to layover on the stand it picks up at, if it has time to sit there... M2/M3 and possibly the 50 (not 100% sure on that). I know I've jumped off an X1 before and a 37 has been pulled in, but not a Silver Arrows... Obviously when an X1 is in, a 4 should be in. Had a feeling there were a few anomalies in the stand allocation and what I said with the m2/m3. Not sure I agree with the stand allocation at all, but it isn't relevant to the thread. Time for a new thread? RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - Malarkey - 27 Aug 2014 (27 Aug 2014, 4:44 am)Andreos Constantopolous wrote Yes, thinking about it, that looks about right. Sure there is a Thread called "Bus Station Designs" or something along those lines in the "Off Topic Bus Chat" section of the Forum. I've created a new general thread for bus stations (that exist) in the NE. RE: North East Bus Stations - col87 - 02 Sep 2014 The two worse bus stations must be in Hartlepool. The so called Interchange is a joke it only has the 57 and a few coaches using it while Seaton Carew only has the Middlesbrough Service 1 stopping in it. Can anyone think of any worse examples RE: North East Bus Stations - S813 FVK - 02 Sep 2014 (02 Sep 2014, 4:19 pm)col87 wrote The two worse bus stations must be in Hartlepool. Can anyone think of any worse examples I think Hartlepool is fine without a major bus station/interchange and Marina Way. Its not as if its too far to Walk from the Marina. Its too small for a bus station and doesnt have that many bus services. RE: North East Bus Stations - S813 FVK - 03 Sep 2014 Regardless of how many services terminate at the Interchange, its not that far to walk from the Town Centre. Hartlepool is just a small town and i dont think there is anywhere (close to the city centre) to build a bus station or any space to extend the Interchange to house more routes. The ANE services all used to stop there - they now follow the x35 around Marina Way. Yes i meant the 58 and not the 57 the only other service to use the Interchange is the Scarlet Band Eveing 22 . Some 36 buses use it as a lay over but all other services terminate at Marina or Victoria Road. It was a waste of money. A better place for a bus station is the Shopping Centre Car Park off Park Road RE: North East Bus Stations - S813 FVK - 04 Sep 2014 (03 Sep 2014, 9:13 pm)col87 wrote Yes i meant the 58 and not the 57 the only other service to use the Interchange is the Scarlet Band Eveing 22 . There will still be plenty of parking spaces with the multi story M&S and basement car parks the aim though would be to get people using the bus. RE: North East Bus Stations - cbma06 - 05 Sep 2014 (04 Sep 2014, 9:37 pm)col87 wrote There will still be plenty of parking spaces with the multi story M&S and basement car parks the aim though would be to get people using the bus. Hartlepool doesn't need a bus station, their used to have one, Since Stagecoach is the main operator in this area and their are content to use the public streets the same as Sunderland etc..., The Bus stations were regulary used in the olden days but you have to move with the times, now their are less bus services/companies due to the deregulation and bus companies are now have to make a profit as their are a business (same as the gas and electric companies etc.. etc...). more and more bus services are running across the city/town centres instead of terminating in the City/Town. Bus stations are mostly used for out of town bus services. Arriva service 22 in Hartlepool uses the marina as a terminating point as their are quite a few passengers use it to go to the Marina and the retail parks. not many passengers would use the 22 to go to the railway station interchange point as theirs nothing really their except the train service. I don't really see many people getting off the Scarlet band service 58 at the interchange in Hartlepool. only reason this service goes into their as its secured and the council pays for it and it makes the council look not daft for building it, should of kept it as a car park, as the new car park next to train station gets quite full Stagecoach Sunderland decided to pull out of Sunderland Interchange so their wont get charged going into Interchange and the passengers were content of boarding the buses on the city streets instead of travelling all the way to Park Lane. If the Sunderland Interchange was built on the original proposed land between Green terrace and Crowtree road where Debenhams is then more services might of used it as it would be more in the central of the City and would of been incorporated with the bridges extension at the time, but their opted for Park Lane due to the proposed metro extension being served next to it. Whats the percentage of stagecoach buses uses the bus stations in Newcastle, as highly majority will be cross city services. They manky like, Personally i'd rather walk to "The Cooper Rose Wetherspoons" or "The Bridges" if need I to go when at Park Lane, I Believe Sunderland City Council are the ones responsible for cleaning them, but whether they do or not I have no idea. I don't think Haymarket Bus Station is served by any Stagecoach services, however the Q2 (under Stagecoach) and X87/X88 used to serve Haymarket. Eldon Square is served by Stagecoach "express" services operating further afield to places such as the Airport, Ponteland and Throckley. We only have a limited turnaround time at PL so if needs must its the only option. However we can use the staff toilets upstairs in the gne canteen but time is of the essence. |
