Think I may go along to this. Any idea what sort of time the trip out would be likely to end as I have to take Sunday timetables into consideration and my buses only run so late.

Ah that's good, 5A leaves to head home at around 1557 so times work out reasonably well for me then.

Really enjoyed today's outing and having the opportunity to ride all three of the Nationals which made the event.

I hope today's run was deemed enough of a success for the organisers to continue it on an annual basis.

I certainly enjoyed myself this afternoon, it was nice getting to ride some National's, especially as I had only been on one for a short ride at the Kirkby Stephen Rally prior to today.

It was a good way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon, so thanks to all those involved, hopefully something like this can be organised again in future.

Click the link below to be taken to an album of today's photos (more will probably be uploaded at some point in the future).

I also really enjoyed today's outing, hopefully something similar could be organised next year. Next time I would like to see one of the National's former routes replicated. Possibly a run on the 194 from Easington Lane to Newcastle, before the competition from the Metro took over (oh wait, the Metro started in 1980 and 4710 was new in 1981 - that would not be acceptable...!), or the famous 638.

I'd be willing to do the 638 using 0006 Wink

Id love to ride on a national in the future. I can remember having one on the 718 when i was really young so didnt get to enjoy it.

I thought today was fantastic. It was nice to have a ride on three different Nationals, all of which are a credit to their respective owners. I opted for a mix of 4710, YFY4M and REV01 there, and then took 4710 from Barnard Castle back to Bishop.

A huge thanks to those that spent the time organising the event, and also to the owners of the three vehicles for allowing us all the opportunity for day out on them.

A superb event which my me and the missus thoroughly enjoyed. Some great photo opportunities. And a credit to all involved in getting the event organised and of course, the owners for making the vehicles available for us to enjoy. Some great photos appearing of the event starting to appear.....Aureolindn...it's amazing what you can get from the rear window of a National!!!

RE: Leyland National Festival at Bishop Auckland. - Craig Smith - 07 Sep 2015

Hello. I must thank everyone who took the time to come to our Leyland National Festival yesterday (6/9/15) This was something that our Traffic Manger Ian Robinson put together. the day was helped A huge amount by our Friends who very kindly let there Nationals be made available to accompany FTN 710W. I know that the people that I spoke to had A real good time. Unfortunately one young lad got A bit upset due to our delay at our first stop. However he did get on his bus a hour late.
This hasn't put us off at all and we might well do something next year. But not with A National.

Thanks.
