GNE 85 evening operation - Adrian - 30 May 2020

Just spotted a GCT 85 to Brady Square, tailed by an indiGo Solo also operating the 85.

Commercial competition?

Seem to be a few duplicated runs at the moment. Think all the efforts went into drawing up the new timetables, rotas etc so it was left to depots to sort that out. Hence why there may be a few dupes

So is it a cock-up, or are Nexus forking out for two operators to run it?
I'd asked earlier if it was commercial, but having said that, I don't think Nexus would be allowed to run a fully secured service alongside an identical commercial route.

I'm led to believe it's a cock up. Can't confirm though

Any pics available of the 39 by GCT
Any issues so far??

This is the third time the 139/140/39 has been given up by go north east on the evenings.

I mean that is madness; how long ago were lose changes introduced? Wasn’t it start of the month? Do we know which one is ‘correct’? ie. Should the timed runs we’re talking about be GNE or Nexus/GCT? Possibilities of an issue at GNE, GCT or Nexus.

And is that not a case of evening journeys always been funded by nexus but the contract keeps changing and at one time GNE (like up until now) had the contract. Or does GNE keep changing their mind about how profitable the journeys are?

It was introduced on the 17th so two weeks ago. Given that all planning has gone into ramping up services tomorrow which is a huge job, I think a few dupes can be forgiven. Not to mention Nexus will only be paying for timetabled runs so if GNE are running later than they should, they're doing it for either nothing, or just the odd fare they take. From tomorrow, there should be no dupes I'd imagine.

1854 and 1924 are the last scheduled departures by GNE from Brady Square. Which means the 1953 departure from Concord is the first GCT run.

If go north east don’t want the service 39 they should not bid for it.

Eh they did want to run the 39, as they bidded for it but lost out to Gateshead Central Taxi's, as they put a lower bid in....

Either way Nexus are wasting their money duplicating a commercial service - which I am sure is also against some rule on subsidised services but I am struggling to evidence it.

They're not wasting any money. Chances are GNE may be mistakenly running it due to the current circumstances. Only GCT will be getting paid for it, GNE will get nothing for it

RE: GNE 85 evening operation - Storx - 01 Jun 2020

Surely this is because of the emergency covid timetable that GNE had and they've simple just not had the time to cancel it in time or not seen the point in reregistering it for a few days to then reregister it again for June 1st hence had to run it.
