Dales & District - Andreos1 - 10 May 2013
Can anyone help with this one or does anyone know about it?
Dales & District operate a service from Northallerton to RAF Leeming.
Due to security issues, I always thought the bus would stop outside the main gates - however, it seems to actually goes inside, beyond security, to the accomodation areas!

The X83 to Albermarle Barracks used to go past security and into the accommodation areas too. The bus stop was (and still is as the shelter hasn't been removed) located outside the community hall inside the camp. I thought this was strange but it appears to be common practice given the information you've provided about the RAF Leeming bus.

Some are more stringent with security checks depending on the security situation/terrorist threat, official visitors or what activites are carried out - so I imagine it will be a no go on some camps.
However, I would be curious to see the vetting procedure for a bus pulling into Leeming (or anywhere else) and whether a guard gets on the bus to check id/passes for the driver and passengers.

I used to deliver goods to Albermarle Barracks. I was never vetted nor my van searched. The general procedure was that you given a card to stick in your window stating 'visitor' or 'contractor' whilst making your deliveries. On occasion, I was asked to sign a log, but I always got the impression that was only done when they were expecting someone important therefore the correct procedure had to followed.
As for the bus, well, after the last 'public' bus stop I'd imagine it'll be mostly squaddies and their families left on the bus. Although it would be presumptuous to assume everybody knows everybody else on camp, I would guess that at least one other person who could vouch for you. Any strangers on board would probably be scrutinised by those on the bus before it reached the camp.
Just a guess.

Was flicking through the channels last night and some programme about bread was on.
Wasn't paying much attention, but it seemed a group of women in Wensleydale were baking bread (no idea why).
Anyway, the group were carted off from Bedale into some pub in the sticks and were done so via a Dales & District Solo.
There was some nice camera work and the company got a bit of exposure on national telly.
