Talk about papering over the cracks! You can't even get to the match on a Sunday from most places if there's an early kick off.

I gave up going - getting back from a Sunday or midweek game was crazy.
Got intouch with GNE when they started off with their route culling, the suggestion they came back with was a 3 bus journey and a 2mile walk home.

However, if you live at the Metrocentre or Sage, the soccerbus is an excellent idea :p. In all seriousness though, the Magpie Mover is a good scheme.

It has been picked up by the media quite a bit today, but here is a link to The Independent and their piece on cuts to subsidised services.

Council leaders say that between 2010 and 2015, Government funding to local authorities will be cut by 43 per cent in real terms, which is more than twice the level of cuts to Government as a whole. This, they say, means that they have to take tough decisions on which services to maintain and which to discontinue.

Seems to be the generic Labour Party line. Unfortunately they're intent in forcing the more militant activists out, and sticking with party glove puppets. Sad
