Nothing new there, just typical of our local bootlickers. Gannon has mysteriously vanished aswell after people have started asking questions about Gateshead Quays I've noticed aswell. Guess they're not used to the usual, 'but Tory' excuse not being available anymore. I'm sure they'll be first in line when the Stagecoach electrics enter service though. RE: North East Local Transport Plan (LTP) - to 2040 - nova347 - 17 Nov 2024 Still think the "Angel Network" is a terrible name. Personally, I know it's already under Go-Ahead but Go North East would be a great name for a full northeast network of buses. Even Transport North East Network. Or North East Transport or just something better/ RE: North East Local Transport Plan (LTP) - to 2040 - Storx - 17 Nov 2024 (17 Nov 2024, 5:52 pm)deanmachine wrote I'm sure they'll be first in line when the Stagecoach electrics enter service though. Yep, no doubt she'll be shouting everything she done to make it happen, even known the bid was won before she was anywhere near office. Or North East Transport or just something better/ I'd just call them 'Buses' personally. Just design a livery for them using Red and use the Nexus 'B' in harmony with the existing 'Metro', 'Ferry', 'Rail', 'Tunnel' and 'Bike'. Similar to how it works with TFL. You don't go to London and get the 'Tower Network' or Ireland and get the 'Leprechaun Network'. Sometimes less is better imo. Meanwhile, buses are actively suffering because of it. Stagecoach aren't investing in Busways unless they get a financial incentive. Makes sense given she's committed to franchising. Why invest in something you won't own in a few years time? RE: North East Local Transport Plan (LTP) - to 2040 - nova347 - 17 Nov 2024 Honestly after my Saturday in Newcastle, the whole central city was gridlocked for 30-40 mins, and buses ran nearly an hour late. Every bus every metro rammed and standing, it has been all week. I stopped getting the bus to work and get dropped off an hour early in Sunderland now because on a morning the 60s are too unreliable and are just rammed and standing which makes the journey very uncomfortable. Things this big don't happen overnight. Just because there's no mention in the press doesn't mean there's not things going on behind the scenes. I'd rather proper policy with a plan than false promises that we got from the Tory Government. Saw a northbound X10 stuck in traffic on the A19, as it was trying to get to Dalton Park over the weekend. It was late, was getting even later and had a a standing load. The Solo on the X6 behind it was similar (assuming people let the X10 go at Peterlee or had been turned away). The 4 car set I was using up the Durham Coast line a few back was crammed too. |
