Hopefully that will occur when Franchising comes into play. As a frequent user of the 37/8, they always seem significantly busier than the 352 (on the days where I see the 1610 it is carrying fresh air at best), and the 355. To be fair, the 354/355 do different corridors, the 354 being Gosforth to Killingworth and the 355 doing Matthew Bank which would be unserved otherwise. Stagecoach are also offering more frequent service, better cross-city connections and a cheaper fare offering in comparison to Go North East and more than likely a more reliable service also so it wouldn't surprise me if others like yourself are using the 37/38. I use the 37 and 38 daily to commute, and every time I have used them they always carry very healthy loads. If my usual bus is a single decker then it generally means standing for my journey. I've used the services at multiple times across the day, including outside of the peaks. Do you have any evidence to back up your claim that I am a liar? Or are you just incapable of comprehending that some people may actually touch grass from time to time and use bus services, rather than look at them on the internet? RE: September 2025 changes - Ambassador - 20 Jul 2025 I have to say everytime I've seen or used the 38 its very busy, especially around hospital visiting hours and on the West Road patch, its always been one of Stagecoach's mainstay routes even back to the Busways days and its consistently maintained its every 10 mins service. Equally, I often see the 356 carrying fresh air, and its one of the first routes that GNE dump an open top on during shortages (even during the rain) - I can't say the 354/5 are that busy, the former often arrives in Quroum empty even at rush hour RE: September 2025 changes - Storx - 20 Jul 2025 Must say from a North of Four Lane Ends view I'd say 37: Not busy, but there's people on - very quiet by Cramlington 38: Don't see it, no comment 353: Lightly loaded, especially after butchering the frequency in half 354: Dead 62: Very lightly loaded, outside peaks 63: Don't see it, no comment 355/356: Generally well loaded at Western side, dead around Monkseaton X7/X8: Picked up the 52/54/555/X63 loads from Quorum to Metro/Newcastle, Metro loads being people connecting at Haymarket since they butched the Four Lane Ends to Quorum frequency so it's borderline unusable X63: Lightly loaded, outside peaks. RE: September 2025 changes - OrangeArrow49 - 21 Jul 2025 74 withdrawn from December 2025? Anyone know who has got the 792 and 794 from September? Thanks. This thread is about service changes from September, but I'm intrigued where you've heard that the 74 is being withdrawn from December...if you're basing it off BusTimes.org saying the timetable is "until 23rd December 2025", then I wouldn't worry (or believe everything you read for that matter) as that's showing for loads of routes and is presumably to account for Christmas timetables which are obviously way off yet RE: September 2025 changes - NEtransport - 23 Jul 2025 (20 Jul 2025, 9:48 pm)Ambassador wrote I have to say everytime I've seen or used the 38 its very busy, especially around hospital visiting hours and on the West Road patch, its always been one of Stagecoach's mainstay routes even back to the Busways days and its consistently maintained its every 10 mins service. Sorry, I wasn’t being clear. I wasn’t referring to the full route. I meant the areas where they replaced the old Arriva routes. The 37 and 38 are very poorly loaded after Freeman Hosptial. Can’t seem them lasting. But very popular for the remainder of the route, obviously RE: September 2025 changes - V514DFT - 23 Jul 2025 Well the 37 has pretty much saw off the 352, so Stagecoach must be doing something right, they obviously see it as viable almost 2 years after Arriva withdrew their services RE: September 2025 changes - Shrek - 23 Jul 2025 (23 Jul 2025, 7:17 pm)NEtransport wrote Sorry, I wasn’t being clear. I think the 38 is the underdog to the 355 in Forest Hall but the 352/353/354 are all the combined underdogs of the 37 from South Gosforth - Cramlington. The 37 does require deckers even north of FLE at peak times and is VERY well used. Additionally, the link to Freeman hospital from FLE has never been more accessible so we should be hoping that it stays imo... In reality I hope the 37/38 get split evenly at 20/20 instead of the 38 (short)/38/37 combined every 10. If marketing is done correctly then passenger numbers can be grown and deckers be warranted at that increased frequency (north of Freeman Hospital). But this is not a service suggestions thread, there are plenty of those so I won't comment any further on this... Yes, 20x Miscellaneous Works (school and works) contracts. Currently 6x GNE and 14x Stagecoach, and will instead be 14x Stagecoach, 3x Northstar, 2x Stanley Travel and 1x L&G Coaches. The L&G board somewhat notable as it includes a works service (968) which is the company’s first time at bidding for a works service board. That is in addition to Sunderland Connect, awarded to City Transport (ex GNE). |
