(20 Apr 2018, 8:10 pm)S830OFT 84A picks up a few leaving town but it's empty up to West Denton. The 84 can get a good load during the day for the full route.

(20 Apr 2018, 8:22 pm)OrangeArrow49 Thanks for your reply. So where are the people going from town if not to West Denton? I am genuinely surprised the 84 gets a good loading. The service is not very frequent and has a lot of competition (both the 84 and 84A).

(20 Apr 2018, 10:31 pm)S830OFT Nexus Route so competition isn't important. They go to likes of Fenham.

(20 Apr 2018, 10:57 pm)OrangeArrow49 True, but I am interested why people choose the 84/84A when there are so many options from other bus operators, GNE and Stagecoach to Metrocentre and Stagecoach to Fenham etc. Additionally Nexus routes usually maintain connections which are essential for the community but not commercially viable, the 84/84A don't look to provide anything not available from GNE and Stagecoach.

(20 Apr 2018, 11:04 pm)S830OFT Most passengers are OAPs and many passengers don't do the full route.

I hope to use the services at some point.
Is the 84A usually on time leaving St Thomas Street?
Thanks.
(21 Apr 2018, 2:50 pm)OrangeArrow49 I hope to use the services at some point.Pretty much so. You could take the 30, 31 or 38 to Fergusons Lane and Whickham View. Then catch the 84 from Broadmead Way. This is the only service that uses Broadmead Way and it's hail and ride on this section.

Any reason the 84/84A doesn't run more frequently and continue to operate slightly later in the day?
YJ15 APZ (I think) on the 84A today. I wasn't expecting a new Solo on the service.
How many vehicles are operating the 84/84A? A new and old Solo are both allocated, I think.
Shocking attitude and behaviour from the driver on service 794 today, I was at the bus stop on Lobley Hill Road and 6021 came heading up the bank with Not In Service on the blind. A man left the bus stop and flagged it, I realised it was the 794 as it was 16:55. The man boarded and paid his fare, I proceeded to board to where the driver turned round and said "No, this is not your bus" I asked what bus this is and he said "it doesn't matter" I left the bus in shock of how rude he was. I think it is ridiculous how the driver can pick and choose who boards the bus when the route is registered on the timetable. Also how he thinks he can get away with Not Im Service on the blind is beyond me. I think I will be reporting this incident to Nexus as everybody with a valid pass has a right to board a public service bus.
