I'm assuming that's not the final order, as things are still being added. So there's still hope for you yet! Wink
Are all of the Enviro400s on order the Euro 5 style, or are some of them of the MMC style?

As far as I know they are all Euro 5 versions - but I'm not 100%

Isnt there a E400MMC currently on Demonstration with Arriva Yorkshire on Service 110, And might this suggest that perhaps Next Years Enviro 400 Order will indeed be E400MMCs.

There is a E400MMC demonstrator with Arriva Yorkshire, now reported at Dewsbury. However, considering the ANE and AY orders are also in with the ANW orders which are now being delivery, they will likely all be of the old Euro5 styling.

Which actually brings me to this tweet yesterday from ANE&Y MD Nigel Featham:

And confirmation on Travel West Yorkshire Forum from Wakefield staff confirm that the 16 E400s destined for Wakefield's Belle Isle are now to 'Sapphire' specification rather than 'MAX'.

The E400MMC demo is currently at Heckmondwike depot being trialled on the 254/255 routes.

As for the Sapphire route in Yorkshire, I can't see any confirmation that the 110 will be getting it (just a First staff member saying 110) - and I would be surprised if they changed from Max to Sapphire this late into the order... I stand corrected if you can point it out though! I have a feeling that there'll be another route to be upgraded, on top of the 2 already selected for the Max treatment. Could the MMCs latest posting be a hint?
I know you will probably all laugh at me, but here is my suggestion on what the 2015 orders and allocations should look like for the North East. Now please note that I haven't included every route but I've included the ones affected as well as making some specification change suggestions. The main points include:

- More powerful vehicles for services X15 / X18 / X21 / X22 to improve reliability and punctuality thanks to 25 new vehicles.
- Powerful summer extras for service X93.
- 43/44/45 upgraded to double decks with just over half being less than 3-4 year old.
- Services X10 / X11 upgraded to Sapphire with all bar 1 vehicle (09 reg), less than 1 year old.
- Services X4 / X5 and X13 upgraded to MAX specification with generic branding to allow flexibility. Newer vehicles would be allocated to X4 / X5 as first resort.
- More premium spare vehicles for Blyth and Ashington depots.
- Sapphire service 7 fully double deck with 1 Sapphire spare.

Here's the sheet folks: [attachment=6193]

Many Thanks
Any more news on the orders?

Could the Wright Streetdeck be an option as Arriva Derbys have entered Service on the 38 Today.

Just posted that info in the East Midlands thread of the 'Other bus companies' section of the forum for reference. (and because i didnt realise you had posted it on this thread Tongue )
To be honest, with the exception of the 308, I don't see either the Streetdeck or Volvo B5TL Gemini 3 fitting into any doubledeck route for Arriva North East whatsoever. I think Arriva should stick with ADL bodywork for all bus types and if they see the benefits of using a heavyweight type on the X93, the Scania Chassis on the E400 MMC would be ideal for the Ashington Express work and the X10 / X11 from Blyth but, as Arriva like it, they put fuel economy before reliability and punctuality. If they cared about them two, they would've ordered B9TLs or N230s when they were on the market rather than E400s and DB300s

How do you know the StreetDeck wouldn't work up here? It's not all about powerful engines. Have you been on a StreetDeck to see what it's like?

I have when GNE had one on Demonstration on the Toonlink, did a Round Trip on the 31/32 and I thought it coped quite well with the route e.g. Climbing the Hills around Winlaton etc, but on the flip side I would have to agree with Davey in saying that a Vehicle with more Power and Bigger Fuel Tank would be better suited.

That wasn't the StreetDeck - that was a Volvo B5TL/Wright Gemini 3.

Bugger, but in terms of Engine Size etc they are pretty much the same though.

To quote an industry insider from another forum

Euro6 is best met with a smaller engine running at higher temperatures so smaller engines are the best way to arrive at it

Hence the move to 5 and 6 litre engine Double Deckers.

Hence the move to 5 and 6 litre engine Double Deckers.
Does this mean that the 5 and 6 litre engines at Euro 6 will be made to produce more power, or equivalent to Euro 5 counterparts?

Or is that purely in terms of compliance?
Well put it this way, I've been on both a B5LH and B9TL up the Cradlewell Bank past the Corner House onto the Coast Road and whereas the B5LH does OK once the engine engages, but the B9TL goes up like a stink even with 80 - 90 passengers as I experienced after the home match against Everton.

It has been confirmed on Arriva North West's Facebook page that Green Lane depot is due 35 ADL Enviro400s (Euro V specification) for the 12/13 (Liverpool - Stockbridge Village) and 15 (Liverpool - Huyton) routes. I believe Speke depot is also due a batch but no confirmation as yet.

Is this example for the North East (Darlington), if so it can't be 1582 as 1582 is a Coastliner 306 branded example.
