Exciting times, just have to keep my eyes peeled until 01/01/2016 for the older MANs Tongue

Wouldn't have said 15 was on the Bingo list.

I think I know which two the 20 would concern (from what I've heard with 25 - just means one isn't done)... Guess we will have to keep our ears open for further news though... Wink

I can only pass on what I've heard when being asked - the problems of being well know by the majority of the Stockton driving staff.
Is it worrying that I am looking forward to the Gas Bus Opening Day more than Valentines Day. Tongue
More roadworks in Sunderland:

Closure of Suffolk Street, Hendon affecting Services 10, 11 Service Update
On Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 February 2014, Sunderland City Council will need to temporarily close Suffolk Street to allow for road resurfacing works.

Last Updated : 13 February 2014 10:22

The road closures are scheduled to be in place between 0800 - 1800 during both days, with the road being open outside these times.

During closure periods, Services 10 and 11 will be unable to observe their normal stops along Suffolk Street or Rosalie Terrace, and will be diverted as follows:

* Service 10 will be diverted from Villette Road via Toward Road and Mowbray Road, resuming normal routes at the north end of Suffolk Street.

* Service 11 will be diverted from Corporation Road via Villette Road, Toward Road and Mowbray Road, resuming normal routes at the north end of Suffolk Street.

Services 10 and 11 will observe all bus stops along the line of the diversionary route.

Clearly, whilst we will be endeavouring to operate Services 10 and 11 in accordance with their published timetables, as well as continuing to liaise with our colleagues at Sunderland City Council to mitigate any problems, there is the potential that bus services in the area may be subject to localised delays.

Stagecoach would like to apologise for any inconvenience these highways works by Sunderland City Council may cause, and we remain grateful for customers’ patience and understanding."

Closure of Leechmere Road affecting Services 18, 19 Service Update
On Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 February 2014, Sunderland City Council will need to temporarily close Leechmere Road at the end of Helvellyn Road to allow for road resurfacing works.

Last Updated : 13 February 2014 10:37

The road closures are scheduled to be in place between 0800 - 1800 during both days, with the road being open outside these times.

During closure periods, Services 18 and 19 will be unable to observe their normal stops along Helvellyn Road and Leechmere Road, and will be diverted as follows:

* Service 18 will be diverted from Grangetown Ocean Road via Queen Alexandra Road, Woodstock Avenue, Westheath Avenue, Hereford Road, Hill View Road, Sea View Road.

* Service 19 will be diverted from Sea View Road via Hill View Road, Hereford Road, Westheath Avenue, Woodstock Avenue, Leechmere Road (east), Ocean Road.

Services 18 and 19 will observe all bus stops along the line of the diversionary route. Customers travelling to Grangetown ASDA are recommended to use the Westheath Avenue bus stops on the diversionary route, which are accessible via the cut-through opposite the ASDA roundabout.

Clearly, whilst we will be endeavouring to operate Services 18 and 19 in accordance with their published timetables, as well as continuing to liaise with our colleagues at Sunderland City Council to mitigate any problems, there is the potential that bus services in the area may be subject to localised delays.

Stagecoach would like to apologise for any inconvenience these highways works by Sunderland City Council may cause, and we remain grateful for customers’ patience and understanding.

An ambulance outside of the Wheatsheaf's main gate... Hopefully wasn't linked to the open day?
Guided tours were also given of the Gas facilities and details about future investment to push for 80 Gas E300, plus info on Gas E400 opportunity. Well rehearsed by staff. Second Ride a Gas shuttles had photo opportunity on route as well as some blind fun later on. Was well organised with management and HO present explaining about the buses, plus all the regular freebees, with Gas related items too. Managed to stay till end which I didn't see coming. Throughly enjoyable day.

I have to echo your sentiments Matt, was a great day and I can only hope the same organisation goes into the Open Day at Stockton later this year.
I've e-mailed the Marketing Manager of Stagecoach North East expressing my gratitude on behalf of the entire forum. Smile

She e-mailed me last year to alert me of the event, as you are all likely to remember, so seemed appropriate to e-mail her with our thanks.

They do.

=D, the 56 still has it to.

Be interesting to see how many people notice its different than all the other buses in Sunderland, expectantly the passengers on the 16 and 20 routes.

My brother who knows nothing about buses... noticed one the other day because he said it looked smart and stood out.
Without going back a few posts what the routes they planned for again??

28001 - 28017 (the examples which were shown at the Open Day yesterday) are to be allocated to services 16 and 20 from next month.
28018 - 28040, which are expected to be delivered from May 2014, will be allocated to services 3 and 13.

And to add to that, from what I got from speaking to management yesterday was that Sunderland is seriously being looked for further gas bus investment beyond that, with a view of potentially becoming a 100% gas bus depot.
