One of the worse buses I rode never liked this during its Sunderland Road days
No mention of it by GNE on social media informing of the delay?

If the bus was operating a service which runs every 10-15 minutes, they wouldn't inform of the delay (given that, by the time they get something on Social Media, the next service is likely to have arrived).

Go North East only tends to report breakdowns if it's an infrequent / commuter service - ie Tyne Tees Xpress, Wear Tees Xpress, Pronto X21/X46.
Correct but stagecoach had to divert there buses did GNE not do this?
A 10-plate Optare Solo is on loan to Go North East - arriving at Riverside Depot earlier this afternoon.

I believe it has been allocated fleet number 9106, and is planned to replace MPD 555 at Hexham Depot, which is due to be withdrawn prior to the arrival of new vehicles as a result of the imminent expiry of its MOT.

Cheers for the information.

Anymore of the MPD's MOT's due to run out soon?
5401's stopping sign is now fixed.

Each MPD registered with the DVLA during the same window as 555, will be due their MOT around about the same period.
I am guessing they must be expecting 555 to fail miserably, to go to the expense of hiring a bus in.
That or the expected repair bill isn't cost effective.

It does not have to be the same as 555.  MOT's can be done in advance, say 1 month, now the age of this vehicle, if in some years it had been done in advance, it could have a different schedule to say 556.

Unlike a car, a bus gets a MOT from year 1 not year 3.

That's why I said around Wink

It wouldn't make sense to have the entire fleet to be off the road for testing at the same time.
It makes sense they are staggered, to take into account demands on the fleet and any repairs that would need carrying out.

Do you have an idea of when this will be out?

Off topic but driver today has mentioned a rumour about streetlites for 20 will have bigger engines than the 60 ones
Certainly being around that Solo. It has seen use with Scarlet Band and Gateshead Central Taxis.

I'd imagine they be same spec as red kite streetlites

The 20 Streetlites will have a 5.1 Litre, 4 Cylinder Daimler OM904? ( I think its called OM904 )
The Drifter Streetlites have a 5.4 Litre 4 Cylinder Cummns ISBe.

Though the Engine is actually smaller than the Drifters and Red Kites, The Daimlers work better with the Micro Hybrid system so will be around the same in power and no jerking.

Could you please clearly mark all speculation as such?

Very few persons on this forum are able to provide confirmation on the build specification of new vehicles.

I would hate for any confusion to be caused as a result of your posts seemingly confirming information.

I believe that Cummins is also available as an option for Euro 6. Cummins aren't that bad depending on their setup and maintenance TBH.
The X9 and X10 are being diverted via the Washington Highway it seems.

Not sure where the road closure is to force the diversion.

Oh my, I've just done a bit of research, and this Solo that GNE have on loan is quite an interesting vehicle. For you see it is one of the 2 Optare Solo+ (https://www.flickr.com/photos/midlanddel...v2w-yTWDzy) to be built. The one in the photo was the electric version which was registered YJ09EZR. The one with GNE YJ10EZB was the diesel version of it.
