So a withdrawn dart could go to Slatyford to allow an ALX300 to transfer to Walkergate, or we could get an ALX400 in return from Stockton with DDA mods for extra capacity on the 18

I wouldn't recommend just replacing the MANs with long length E200s. The X77/78/79 has somewhat complicated interworking diagrams with the X82/87/88 so you couldn't really upgrade the Newbiggin Hall expresses without also upgrading the others. The 6 and 7 could also do with an upgrade in capacity. The 55 and 06 reg MANs would be ideal for this.
