6124's re-trim won't be done yet - it should return to Saltmeadows Road again next month.
S813 FVK will be pleased!

Is it normal for a 8 year old bus to go up in flames though,R.I.P 8303

Looking at the photo Bazza has uploaded to Flickr the engine is intact, so may of been an electrical fault.

Didn't some of the 11 reg versas have to be sent back to optare not long after delivery due to electrical faults?

Indeed

always prefer full LEDs on branded vehicles. Makes them look much smarter, something the upcoming retrims will do even more.

I imagine one of the recently repainted Versa's in fleet livery will be utilised. If I had to take a guess I'd say 8306 as it follows on consecutively from the other Lambton Worm vehicles. 8327 would then take it's place on the 67/9 with Riverside needing an additional spare vehicle to replace it.

Electrics and Optare don't really mix well, One of there most common faults to find in service on the older Darwen ones ( 09 plates ) is the " Door Bell " chime ringing at any random time for no reason, Worst part is that chime is the signal for another handful of more serious warnings, When the Saltwell Park Versa's first moved to Washington this caught a few drivers out, But eventually started ignoring it.
I haven't noticed anything like this in the newer examples, And the Stop bell has been altered to not give off the same chimes as the Warning's.
My opinion is a circuit has sparked/ignited which has spread to the Fuel Tank ( located under the driver's seat ) which then ignited the rest of the bus.
Most components from the Engine bay are salvageable I believe.
With the ventures getting repainted if im correct the 4,53,54,56,58,60,309/310 will all get repainted next year.
5292 is out on the 9 today looking very smart

I know this sounds thick, but why are they numbered 63**,are the fleet numbers 6149-6299 reserved for other vehicles or is it down to the type of bus

All new double decker buses in the fleet will be 63**, all decker's bought from other companies such as Brighton, London etc, will be 6149+.
I'm disgusted in what happened to me today to the point I've involved the police

Would you care to expand? If it is a matter involving a Go North East service, your best bet is to contact them.
I don't really want to discuss this further but had to vent. After a phone call to GNE they wouldn't pass it on to the police themselves so I did.

If you don't want to discuss it further, then why have you posted it on a message board? Not that you have actually said what has happened in the first place.
