Was just ironing out a couple of Next Stop audio-visual niggles following the testing which was completed earlier in the week - as I mentioned before, all three were swapped over at Park Lane just after mid-day.
There was a launch planned with all of the Sunderland Connect partners, hence the mid-day entry into service, but sadly didn't go ahead due to the weather earlier in the day.

Have NEXUS re-recorded the audio?
Least the screen will work this time!
Roadworks on Wearmouth Bridge, some services diverted away. Sers 9, 20A, 35 & 700 remain normal route - catch Ser 35 to Southwick Grn to transfer onto 56's. Sers 20, 36 & 56 diverting via St. Michaels Way and Queen Alexandra Bridge towards South Shields, Castletown or Southwick.
Has 6017 been withdrawn yet, as it was supposed to of been withdrawn on 22nd December but wasn't due to 9083's annual PSV test.

It wasn't supposed to be withdrawn on 22nd December - that was when it was originally planned to transfer from Riverside back to Percy Main (i.e. in line with the end of the end of Enchanted Belsay).
As 9083 was VOR hence leaving Percy Main short of a double-deck, 6017 transferred back to Percy Main earlier than planned.

5256. They'll be swapped one-for-one.

Thanks, why haven't they started from 5243?, seems odd they started half way through, unless the 5 and 50 will stop interworking, meaning only the 50 will be branded?

5255 - 5260 were repainted first, back in early 2013.
The others were only repainted during 2016 (when the 5 started interworking with the 50), so in theory (maybe not correctly so) the bodywork/paint condition should be better on those buses.

Ah right, probables see 5255 - 5260 repainted in February or March then.

If all are getting painted, then that one will too.

Unless they get newer buses......seems strange to have such a high PVR and not to be branded
Unless they take thsm of the 4 for thsm to get newbuses and the mercs to come on 5-50 bit pointless having whey eye brand on the 5 ano the interwork bit silly like to see new buses bit who knows
Apparently j was wrong with my last post. New buses for the 4 could be street lites or versa s and all the mercede Citaros are leaving Washington

No doubt it'll be Streetlites, Go North East last bought Versa's and Citaro's in 2013, can't see them going back to buy them now... especially when Citaro's are really expensive.
Can't see the 4 getting new buses, the Citaro's are alright on them, more likely to see the Quaylink or Citylink 58 getting new buses first so the Versa's can move on too Scania routes (after June).

4 has PVR of 11
50/5 PVR of 12
If the 4 does get new, imagine these would go to Green Arrow which has PVR of 10??

I couldn't agree with you more but I've heard deffo 4 getting new buses. I think the Mercs are a great fit for the 4 and don't understand. Ive actually heard a number of things like I said so I'm just gonna wait and see what happens or turns up but it is supposed to be soon

On Tuesday 29 January 2019 we're launching our first 'Chatty Bus', in response to the Government’s loneliness strategy. With three-in-10 Britons going at least one-day-a-week without speaking to anyone close to them, we want to do something to encourage everyone to talk to those around them.
On 'Chatty Bus' day, between 9.30am and 3pm, buses on Angel 21, Castles Express X21, X9 and X10 will be our designated 'Chatty Buses', where we will have Chatty Bus Champions on board ready to start conversations with fellow passengers who would like a chat. Keeping the atmosphere fun and only engaging with those who want to join in, the Chatty Bus Champions will be striking up conversations using a range of games and ice-breakers.
We'll provide badges for those who want to signify that they would like to join in the conversation, and we won't disturb passengers who prefer not to take part.
Overcoming loneliness improves the health and wellbeing of our local residents and as such, we believe this is a campaign we should all get behind.
So, fancy a chat? Hop on board with us and we'll look forward to talking with you!

Is there a schedule of which services these will be just so I can avoid them? It's difficult enough to concentrate on the X21 as it is with the 'characters' that get on never mind all the forced conversations. Not that it's a bad idea, it's just I actually prefer being alone

Think services alike the X21 appeal to teenagers because of the £1 single flat fare. Unlike the Arriva 6 which is £2 I believe from Auckland to Durham.

It's not the teenagers that are the problem, I can deal with them, it's the grown adults that think it's ok to open cans of cider and bottles of wine on the bus!

It's impossible (imo) to both encourage conversations on a bus and not disturb other passengers
