Anyone know any Information about the new Saltburn Circular?
(25 Feb 2023, 5:41 pm)Lollist wrote [ -> ]Anyone know any Information about the new Saltburn Circular?

Where did this news come from?
found nowt online. info realesed soon?
Imparenlty they won a contract acording to a spotter and another person on here and they have been brining vehicles down there
With the extension of Tees Flex, the contract has been cancelled - it was only due to start with Flex ending.
I dont see the point in teesflex its easier opening up new routes
They did test the route with Enviro 200 36466, but as Kuyoyoyoyoyoyoyo says the 18 month extension to Flex will see it cancelled.
It was due to run from Loftus to Saltburn via two different routes.

It’s nothing more than a vanity project for Ben.

36094 also got tested on it a few weeks back
It's not been cancelled, and is starting Monday 27 th March. Timetables out now, connecting the East Cleveland villages with Skelton Asda and Saltburn.

A Stagecoach bus was in Loftus today with a few drivers on board, presumably route learning (looking a bit lost at bank top with hazards on, before pulling away)

Buses numbered 1 and 2, operating clockwise and anticlockwise routes between Loftus and Saltburn. Serving Liverton Mines, Liverton, Moorsholm, Stanghow, Lingdale, Skelton ASDA, East Cleveland hospital, Skelton and Saltburn. Going via Skinningrove and Carlin how the other way.
Will they aqquire more buses then?

Hopefully when the new E400 MMCs start getting delivered throughout the country walkergate will acquire more decker's to regain the ones they lost, before ousting the 2007/2008 E400s earmarked for replacement by the 11 new ones.

i think you could easily lose around 4 E200s and 5 E300s from walkergate if they get replaced by double decker's, slatyford could use the E300s in place of the E200s that seem to get allocated randomly, depending on how many buses they need for any contract services that were rumored to bidding for that should leave some spare for salt burn circular

It is a good Idea but I think It should go to Stockton as well because its well away from the rest of the stagecoach network

It is going to Stockton
I was making a suggestion

Understand 3 E200s will move from Hartlepool to Stockton to operate the 1/2.

It's a tendered service funded by the Tees Valley CA and tendered on their behalf by Redcar and Cleveland Council, as an eventual replacement for Flex within the East Cleveland area. It's not planned to be part of the Stagecoach network, but certainly part of the overall Tees Valley Bus network.

How many times - Walkergate need those E200s for the 317, it just happens that to give enough spare cover you need more than the PVR (7 for 5) and at the end of the day, most customers would rather any size bus turns up rather than no bus turning up because the only spare isn't suitable (or the wrong brand - see the many complains in the past with Trent Barton and then Transdev, mainly during the tenue of a certain seemingly disgraced MD of both companies.....). Likewise, Slatyford need the E200s for the 32/32A/35 - and a quick look on Bus Times confirms the active examples are all on 32/32A or 35 (although the one on 35s is the one on-loan from South Shields).
You only have to look at Carlisle's recent use of an E200 on the 685 and their attitude to that - their 37034-7 are Euro6 so if they end up with issues with their E400MMCs or their 3 Euro6 E300s (given they do now seem hesitant to send any of their Euro6 MAN E300s on long 685s anymore after 22879 broke down at Corbridge), they are the only vehicles that can be used without a £50 fine. End of the day, a bus is a bus and the majority of passengers would rather a bus turn up than no bus at all.
So will stockton give three buses in return

they were supposed to be getting E300s however they supposedly to be too big for the pits at hpool

im not suggesting move all the E200s from walkergate, if im right in thinking they have 11 (happy to be corrected if im wrong), the 317 has a PVR of 5 so assuming like you have suggested the total of 7 to include 2 spares, that leaves the 4 ive suggested to cascade, unless ive missed a route at walkergate that also uses E200s.

as for slatyford aswell im not suggesting removing vehicles from dedicated PVRs or that routes spares, but merely excess spares that end up getting used on other routes, ive seen E200s on a whole assortment of random routes the past year that they were totally unsuited to, i was merely suggesting maybe these excess ones get swapped for a bigger vehicle
I've often wondered why there isn't more of a connection from the likes of Lingdale or Liverton Mines to the A171 and the X93.

Hopefully there's been a joined up approach and it's more than just about a train connection at one end of the route with these two services.
I dont get why they dont make it go from Stockton to East Cleveland Vilages through Thornaby and nunthorpe and great ayton and all them surely the people would use it?

So the only Carlisle vehicles we should see in Newcastle now are 11157/58, 27141/42 and 27226 ? Unless they are desperate and have to send a 37xxx.

Indeed 27141 appeared today. Shame the classic Enviro 400s don't appear anymore, they seemed to give a good account of themselves whenever I travelled on them over here.

Walkergate have 7 E200s for a PVR of 5, while Slatyford have 9 for a PVR of 8 (6 on 32/32A and 2 on 35s). Neither depot have an excess of examples but at the end of the day, I'd rather be on an unsuitable E200 than stood around waiting all because there isn't a decker for the service.

Again, it's a Tender arranged by Redcar and Cleveland Council - they came up with the route.

Carlisle's Euro6 fleet includes:
ADL E400MMC 11157 11158
MAN E300 22789 22878 22879
E300 27141 27142 27226
E200 37034 37035 37036 37037

The use of the MAN on the extra 685 turn lasted until mid February after 22878 broke down at Corbridge on the 15th (think they used them a further day that week) then suddenly Carlisle ended up using the aforementioned E200s on a semi-regular basis - as 27141/2 were both down at Penrith. As of now, 11158 seems to be playing ball (i's had a few issues lately) so the main allocation is the two MMCs and either 27141 or 27226 (27142 appears to be at Penrith and mainly working their single 554 working) - although I do believe the eventual plan is for all 3 of Carlisle's full workings to be E400MMCs once the new 555 examples enter service, with the E300s as the main back-up.

Why would anyone want to go to Stockton, people in Stockton don't even go to Stockton it's an absolute dump and by far the worst of the large towns in the North East other than Bishop Auckland.

The route that badly is needed is something on the lines of:
Teesside Park - Thornaby - Ingleby Barwick - Teesside Ind. Estate - Coulby Newham - Nunthorpe - Guisborough - Skelton (ASDA) - Brotton (Hospital) - Saltburn

(Map: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Margro...F1q67r0_96)

It's a horrid journey to do in any sense and connects all the major retail points in Teesside. Right now it's impossible to do most those journeys without massive detours via Middlesbrough or Stockton. Getting around Middlesbrough is horrific. Just try on Google Maps for between most places on that map above (not a suggested route) and you'll see what I mean and it's not as if it's serving nothing.

Seems like the allocations been changed to mmcs
