According to Companies House the other Director resigned in May.

Yeah Lloyd has nothing to do with it. They fell out basically from what I remember. Tbh, if you think Lloyd's bad (I've met him a few times and hes alright although tbh 'bus driver is a massive racist' should not be news to anyone who works inbthis industry), then Fairchild's arguably worse overall but I have to keep my button shut on that front.

Go North East still have it, .700. commences it's Summer timetable on Monday, and for the first time for the Summer the 701 is running this year. Definitely Go North East.

It's not £45 million don't be silly. GNEs entire revenue was £122 million in 2023, a contract for 3 buses isn't going to make up a massive chunk of htat.

There's something weird about that whole link - the amount quoted, the statement in the blurb "Note there are several potential contracts of varying duration/scale ranging from 3 months up to 5 years.", the list of other local bus companies at the end under 'domains'. Is some of it relating to the entire Nexus subsidised services contracts value - would that be £45M - genuinely have no idea.

You’d think that a company which is the sheer size of City would know that tender awards are made public. They certainly aren’t amateurs.

We can only go off what has been recorded formally on the award details and Nexus suggest £45 million...
What will they use on the 700/701?
I take it, it'll be the same as now:

I wonder, if they'll have WIFI and USB ports - as I think the uni students won't be happy, if they don't!

Dont think there will be much fuss re wifi, its usually just very short journey times, by the time you log in and register/password etc. You are just about at your destination on those ones.
Other thing though is 700 could get more custom as Sunderland College (not the Uni) now has the HICSA site open this academic year at Sheepfolds, directly opposite SAFC. So both Uni and College students vying for travel.

But if you blindly go for the cheapest, you get what you deserve. City have a big reputation in the industry - and not a positive one. He always double runs his rail work (ie has one bus doing two running boards simoultaniously), with predictable results. Reliability of the service is going to go through the floor if it's true he's won it.
I think City Travel have made some moves in the reich direction by restructuring their management team, however, seemingly frequent trips down to Quarry House in Leeds do little to instill confidence in their operational approach.
