The thing is though, I actually thought it wasn't too bad a bus really, it performed alright (seemed to be doing around 55mph on the A1(M) and A167, didn't get much idea of its performance on hills. The interior is a bit drab, pretty much all grey and silver throughout. One intresting feature is the interior lights would be really bright when the doors were open but would dim when the doors closed.
For some reason it reminded me of Arriva's EcoCitys (especially 4812/4813) just with the interior seemingly being fairly similar. I actually didn't mind it, apart from the crap seats. I don't think it's a particularly good looking bus though IMO. I was expecting it to be much worse juding by the comments some enthusiasts made when it was on trial with Yourbus.
Streetlites do the same thing with the interior lights, as do many newer buses I would think.

It's an optional extra - on Streetlites at least.
I believe the little box which makes it possible is manufactured by Hanover (ie the same people who make destination displays!) One of the many gadgets hidden behind the cove panels...
I think it would look very smart in Weardales latest livery i would love to see them go in for Scanias in a big way both Single and Deckers was hoping that since the tridents are for sale Scanias would replace them.
Weardale have a 14 plate Merc Citaro on trial for the next 4 weeks.
Arrived this morning
Citaro BP14FJZ is smooth and relatively rattle-free even after 130000+k. Powerful - 50 up Harperley bank - but far less noisy than that Yutong.
Does the X21 still stop at stand H at MetroCentre as have been waiting to come for it as bus checker app says it's due at 14:45 and it hasn't turned up

Not sure which one Stand H is, but the X21 service stops at the Metrocentre Coach Park... It doesn't go into the Metrocentre Interchange, as far as I know.

I believe stand H is the stand the X22, X24 and X88 currently leave from.
You are quite right, the X21 does not use the bus station at all and instead uses the stop in the coach park, as this picture demonstrates:

For some reason, some of the online timetables seem to incorrectly state that the X21 leaves from stand H in the bus station, rather than the coach park. No idea why this is though?
Will have to get it another time, as didn't want to wait until 5pm for the next one. Was the demo as well which I have been after as saw it coming into Newcastle when I was on the way out on the 100. Hopefully the Citato will be on it next weekend.

A recent addition to the Weardale fleet is Optare Versa YJ13 HMO, apparently soon to be registered W666WMS. The Meridian's are apparently leaving Weardale. In recent weeks, this has typically operated on the even hour departures from Bishop Auckland whilst MCV YJ60GGF has operated the odd hour Bishop departures.

I wonder what has been allocated to the 941 then?

I thought Weardale had lost the 941 contract to Stanley Travel.
Does anyone know what is going to replace the other Meriidian that is about to leave the fleet

Judging by where it is parked in Bishop Auckland, would it have been operating service 101?
