Wouldn't be surprised if some of the new order turns up for both of them personally, at least, for a checkbox so they can say they've got new trains everywhere since the rest of the network has little benefit for anything electric.
Well there are calls in Northumberland for the Morpeth locals to be extended to Berwick, which is something I would strongly support. This would deal with the Morpeth siding anomaly. It’s not straightforward to path, of course.
Unsure if it related to the new Nexus fares structure, but it seems fares on NL have come down in price.

Previously from Seaton Delaval to Newcastle it was £2.50 peak and £2.10 off peak, and now it is £2.40 and £2.00.

I wonder if this will see even more people travelling on NL more.

Seems like the same price from Ashington and Bedlington aswell, bargain. Must be up there with (if not) one of the cheapest rail fares in the country.

Just had a look at the season tickets:

Train: £19.20 per week, £73.80 per month or £768 per year
vs
Bus: £37.50 per week, £144.00 per month or £1444 per year

Not even remotely competitive now for frequent travellers. It's a shame the rail season tickets aren't advertised anywhere as they're a bargain really. Even if you needed to do the odd single bus journey you'd be better off with the train season tickets.
I started using the Northumberland Line instead of the Metro and may never go back - Chronicle Live https://share.google/Juxi0vOsfbwWV5lF0
Just watched an interview with Alex Hornby (Commercial Director at Northern) who says they're in the process of getting four more class 156 units from ScotRail which would then enable all journeys on NL to run as 4-car units. No timescale as yet though other than "hopefully this year".
