Any other operator would VOR it until it was repaired, guess that GCT don’t have enough vehicles to cover the services though.

And before people say "its better than no bus at all", it shouldn't need to be off the road for long at all. Its either something that can be fixed, or if its determined it cannot be, then replace the unit.

It doesn't take weeks and weeks to do, which is the time these have been running round without working destinations.

Who is taking over the 319?

84 was late at the Metrocentre yesterday, leaving a passenger a little unhappy having to get 2 buses home as she didn't wait for it.

Very informative, thanks Dan. Your detailed response is appreciated.

Well, it's good news at least. GCT are terrible at operating bus services.
319 Cancelled is now on bus org now from the 25th
Gateshead Central Taxis have moved into there new depot on nest road. All buses are here apart from what I think is 3 orange buses still at there old depot

[attachment=9851]
558 is gone from listings , assume that's one of the cuts. Certainly nothing today bar the JHC operates 558S
They've been slowly moving into the new depot for the past few months now.
Gateshead Taxis must surely be the worst example of a bus company in the 35 years since the Thatcherite bombshell of deregulation.

According to Nexus the Stagecoach 10/11 is being extended from Jarrow to cover the 319.

There's a small change so it actually serves the royal quays
Pffft 85 minutes is a long time to be on a bus, especially in this heat

To be fair, not very many people will do end to end on 10 and 11 if thats what your referring to. Most likely anyone South Shields to Whiteleas (poss Biddick Hall and Low Simonsiide) would change to Ferry and cross river. The remainder would use the through route

Thats my fear for these services though,i can see it being successful if advertised right, but could be a massive flop if kept quiet, which it would end up confined to the history books like other services that have ran the North Shields-Jarrow section, hopefully with it additionally serving Royal Quays it'll improve its chances of sticking around,i probably havent worded it right, but i hope you kinda get what im saying
Well since I live in Biddick Hall it might be quicker than heading to shields to use the ferry

In fairness, they'll carry fresh air. No-one wants to go to North Shields from Jarrow there's no reason to travel through. It's just a replacement for the 319/9/310 which is subsidised by Nexus. Imo it's just one of those routes that exists because it's 'always been there' and really needs changed on the North side of the water where it'd be better serving Silverlink and Cobalt with a connection to the Metro at Percy Main where people from Jarrow actually might want to travel to (Cinema, Shopping, Work, Food etc). North Shields to Jarrow can Bus to Percy Main and Metro or Metro/Bus to South Shields and Ferry across.
