The Sunderland connect contract is up for tender this year, think its around July.

So we might see the hybrids to go in for repaint in the coming months... maybe for a refresh or total new colour, if GNE loose it.

Are they Nexus owned?

Sunderland Connect is funded by Sunderland uni and NEXUS, GNE may have contrubuted to the buying of the buses... although not sure.

Citaro will be able to answer that Smile

RE: Go North East: 2014/15 Financial Year Order Predictions - idiot - 18 Mar 2015

You beat me to it, 75% of the time I see them it's near enough full. Is it free for university students?

(18 Mar 2015, 10:58 am)leestransportphotos I didn't say they were.... What traditionally Newcastle is B&W and Sunderland is R&W

Its been done before with HMB.

Newcastle one Tune army bus

After a quick search I cant find the Sunderland one, Wear fm if memory serves me correct.

Ye but only if they have their Sunderland uni ID card.

The 700 does a decent route, i still think it should go to Roker during the Spring and on weekends though.. this summer they should extend it to Seaburn after it goes to Roker.

Only thing that would worry me there is the ENCTS passengers taking over then the uni removing any subsidy due to there students being left behind.

RE: Go North East: 2014/15 Financial Year Order Predictions - idiot - 19 Mar 2015

I think it needs bigger buses. But additional 701 journeys were introduced to combat the crowding.

Dont think I have seen many ENCTS card holders use the 700 that much, I have used my ENCTS card a few times and each time I was the only ENCTS passenger on the bus

My concern was more if the service was extended to Seaburn as suggested.

Most use I see of ENCTS card holders appears to be from the Winter Gardens/Holmeside area to the Millfield/St. Marke's area.

That will be because no one is at University on a Weekend so it is bound run around empty, although there might be the select few who go in to use Libary or other Facilities which are open on a Weekend.

Weekend Service is still provided as it provides links to various Landmarks across the City, including the Glass Centre and The Winter Gardens, would imagine if Tourists were in Town then they would use the 700 to get from A to B.

I normally see the 'Sunderland Connect' service full and standing to a point of where "Bus Full" has to be displayed.

Nice one, wouldn't get away with contravision over the cab window like that now. Not entirely sure but was this the first use of contravision? What year was this?

There was a Sunderland Busways Lynx in an all over advert covering the bus except front with cable and wireless years gone by.
