The changes are due to come into effect this Sunday - the 30th. However, as stated above, no timetables have been released yet nor have the drivers seen a rota (in contrast to Arriva's changes in Stockton, which have been on-line since the start of the month and the drivers have seen their new rota).

If you mean the Hartlepool 1 then they nothing to suggest any changes are happening at all. Nothing on the buses or the Stagecoach website so it’s a complete mess

Defo a change from Sunday. Service 1 Hartlepool does not operate evenings currently. From 30th , it does.

Also going back to the old route via Morrisons instead of the marina. 36 also goes back over to the marina Monday to Saturday daytime when the changes take effect too

I know they happening but my point is Stagecoach are not telling people the changes are happening.  They is no information on the buses or on the website to let people know when they should be.

To be fair, GNE diverted the 78 up Pelaw Bank due to passenger requests.

Aye, it meant the likes of Pelton then didn't have a service, but at least they listened to the small portion who needed a bus route not covered by the 8 or 34.

They also listened to the people of Castleside who told them they wanted a bus to Durham and not Stanley.

Stagecoach timetable re appeared on nexus website to run the 54 on Sundays

Nice maybe from an enthusiasts point of view. Yet another sunday service being run by a different operator, can't see there being ticket acceptance so will be more awkward for passengers

The simple solution is full regulation or franchise. No more pussy footing about, let’s return to something akin to pre 26th October 1986.

Stagecoach running the Sunday timetable. Evening services withdrawn

But you can't "turn the clock back" 36 years just like that!!

37 years ago there wasn't Sunday trading; there weren't out of town business parks; there weren't large housing estates being built well away from main bus routes'; there wasn't work from home - nearly everyone travelled 5 days a week to a relatively local job, whereas now many people travel 20-30 miles each way per day to work. Large numbers of people were employed in heavy industry with works buses providing transport (steel works, coal mines, Team Valley et al).

If you are not in your mid 50s you can't really remember pre-deregulation - let's not forget that deregulation (36 years - 1986 to 2022) has lasted longer than the PTE/NBC era (17 years - 1969 to 1986) and the Nationalised (BTC/THC) era (21 years - 1948 to 1969).

That’s why I said ‘something akin to 1986’ , recognising there are differences. I remember deregulation well. I was 13 at the time.
