RE: Southeastern - Bus_User - 13 Jan 2016

Can I just say it annoy the living daylights out of me when joe public think TOC's are making stupid excuses for the delays in their service like today's case where the low angled sun was obscuring the drivers mirror/monitor at Lewisham therefore the drivers had to check to make sure everyone is on the train safely and perhaps switch cabs to do this therefore delay the service

Point is, the "low angle sun" is NOT an excuse, its a safety issue and drivers cannot and should not even dare risk try to close the doors if they can't fully see because of the sun, I sometimes wish customers would just have a little bit more common sence on this.

On a local note, expect this to happen on the Metro at Pelaw and Felling as we head nearer the Spring period, it might be annoying to be held up for a little bit but its a totally understandable and good REASON why trains will be delayed and its not as daft as it sounds.

...and there is your problem. If you can predict low sun at Felling and Pelaw months in advance, then why can't Metro? Shouldn't this be covered in a business continuity plan? It's not good enough to just say we're not observing Felling or Pelaw.

I appreciate that it's a safety issue, because sun is glaring into the mirrors or monitors, but there's nothing to stop them training staff up to act as emergency despatch staff, and developing an operational procedure around that.

Customers are entitled to their views. They pay a lot of money for their service, and are entitled to express opinions when things are right or wrong.

RE: Southeastern - NK53 TKT - 06 Apr 2016

I used the 19:39 Southeastern trains service out of Victoria for Dartford after eating at Browns at Victoria with a class 465. The journey to Dartford I believe is just over an hour and I got off at Kidbrooke next to my Aunty's house which is normal if I decide against Lewisham because I confident I can connect with a 178 bus a few stops to Kidbrooke Park Road/Eltham Road. I went to use the toilet onboard 465196 and the door was locked for the 30 minutes of travelling to Kidbrooke. I did see a key hole and I am wondering if staff would lock a toilet for the duration of a journey, I come to London to see my Aunty 13 times a year and I normally use Southeatern trains but it was unusual as I am pretty sure nobody entered the toilet, any thoughts ?

Toilets can be locked to stop people hiding during revenue checks.
It may have been out of order too.

Southeastern trains are normally driver only operated and there is a lit that says out of order if this is  the case

My DLR last week wasn't driver operated - but I still got my Oyster checked during an on-board revenue inspection Wink

That's TFL for you Wink
I use the DLR a lot, especially to Lewisham and I can tell you that that is normal

Obviously! Wink

1 revenue check in 7 journeys last week, plus however many journeys I have had since 2010 isn't the best like.

Geating back to South Eastern though.
Wasn't it their revenue inspectors who rumbled the £42k fella in the link a few posts up?

Yes it was

RE: Southeastern - northern156 - 06 Apr 2016

I'm pretty sure staff wouldn't lock a toilet OOU for the sake of some folk wanting to dodge a fare.

No doubt it was actually not working or not in a presentable state (read of that what you will).

I have witnessed it more than once.
TPX do it more than most.

Apart from being the last one in as the guard was locking them (just for a spell between stations whilst he checked tickets - and he was true to his word), seeing it previously and Mrs C experiencing it last week between Yarm and Thornaby?

RE: Southeastern - NK53 TKT - 17 Jul 2016

I was on 465168 yesterday and there was a technical issue/some smoke onboard and it was taken out of service at Ladywell yesterday, I believe it might've been braking issues
