Huge drop in their share value. Guessing the drop and this announcement are connected.
Change: down 229.50p (-22.39%).

Doesn't surprise me at all. This could be devastating for them, especially if it leads to a criminal investigation.

Aye wouldn't be surprised. Seen there's a massive claim starting against GTR aswell involving the Gatwick Express fares and breaking competition laws.

https://gtrclaim.co.uk/Home/portalid/0 - Details about it here which could be rather costly for them if anything comes from it.

Doesn't sound good for them, assuming it's going to be a rather grim fine whatever it is which let's be honest they deserve. I'm sure it was just resting in their accounts.

Ouch!
Potential fine of up to £81m and the DfT are being accused of burying the report in to the alleged fraud.

The fine is nothing compared to the reputational damage for both companies.

No more uncertainty with the fine, but I'd argue there's uncertainty about the work they're going to get going forward and the future value of the shares as any rail work dries up.

I'd not touch them with a bargepole.

I'd suspect that the expectation of no new rail work would also already be reflected in the share price.

I believe the railways are still going to be operated by private companies. It's been rumoured that it's going to be ran like TFL and the Overground (currently Arriva) and Crossrail (MTR). They'll definitely still be after rail work in the future imo.

Wonder if their card will end up marked and they go the way of Virgin and Stagecoach?
Can see them wanting. Not convinced they'll get.

It would certainly make sense but then against the corruption in this government it wouldn't be a surprise if they won everything.
