RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - Unber43 - 30 Mar 2022 how can GCT afford such a modern fleet? Like i don't think a single one of there buses is more than like 4 year old that is in commercial service RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - Thomas12 - 30 Mar 2022 (30 Mar 2022, 8:40 pm)Unber43 how can GCT afford such a modern fleet? Like i don't think a single one of there buses is more than like 4 year old that is in commercial service I would imagine they lease them RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - Unber43 - 30 Mar 2022 (30 Mar 2022, 8:44 pm)Thomas12 I would imagine they lease themWonder why GNE don't do that RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - Adrian - 31 Mar 2022 (30 Mar 2022, 9:13 pm)Unber43 Wonder why GNE don't do thatIt likely costs more over the lifespan of a bus to lease, but there's limited capital outlay. Perfect for an operator like GCT though, where they can send the buses back should they lose enough work to end up with a surplus. GNE or any other large operator is going to need to the said bus for its entire lifespan, and they have access to capital to purchase outright. RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - Chris 1 - 07 Apr 2022 (30 Mar 2022, 8:40 pm)Unber43 how can GCT afford such a modern fleet? Like i don't think a single one of there buses is more than like 4 year old that is in commercial service Their work is predominantly contracted rather than commercial, so less risk. Leasing costs (assuming they are leased) will likely be reflected in tender bids, and from what I can gather the fleet is well utilised. Intrigued about the TB22 & TB23, are nexus disablity passes valid on taxibuses. RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - Aaron21 - 27 Jun 2022 Saw a Facebook post a few days confirming that the K2 will return. Only put it in here as GCT ran it previously. If true then it might stay with GCT but could go to GNE RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - busmanT - 27 Jun 2022 (27 Jun 2022, 9:45 am)Aaron21 Saw a Facebook post a few days confirming that the K2 will return. RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - deanmachine - 27 Jun 2022 (27 Jun 2022, 5:40 pm)Unber43 GCT must waste so much money on driver transfers, do the drivers just take their bus back to the depot, and the new drivers brings a new one? They've got Renault Kangoo vans that say Bus Division on the back under the GCT logo. RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - Dan - 27 Jun 2022 (27 Jun 2022, 5:09 pm)busmanT GCT - with the March, May and now July changes GCT have lost a lot of work (contract losses, services withdrawn) It would be interesting to compare their pre-March 2022 PVR to their new PVR from 24 July. Even if they do win the K2 (which they are likely to, but Phoenix could be competitive!) then I still think it must be a significant reduction. RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - Thomas12 - 27 Jun 2022 (27 Jun 2022, 6:23 pm)Dan It would be interesting to compare their pre-March 2022 PVR to their new PVR from 24 July. Even if they do win the K2 (which they are likely to, but Phoenix could be competitive!) then I still think it must be a significant reduction. Yeah off the top of my head it was a big drop. They lost the K1/K2 (1 bus), W1A/W2/W3 (3 buses), 6/552 (1 bus), 59/359 (1 bus), 319 (1 bus), 333 (1 bus). And then the PVR reduction on the 335 is a reduction of 2 buses. That is all I can think of, apart from the evening/Sunday services - although there are probably some I've missed. In total that's quite a significant drop in PVR of around 10. RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - LVK 404L - 01 Jul 2022 Are taxibuses full disability accessible? Just asking as if the TB14 is operating Kibblesworth to Birtley/Barley Mow there will be a few passengers for the doctors surgery from Kibblesworth. Most of these passengers have those 'walkers on wheels' but I'm gathering there isn't much storage. Don't think I've ever seen a taxibus driver open a boot to get walkers etc in. RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - Aaron21 - 02 Jul 2022 The 92 on an evening will now be TB92 Gateshead Central Taxis - Jimmi - 22 Jul 2022 Gateshead Central Taxis will be the new operator of tendered service 104 between Newfield, Bishop Auckland & Ramshaw from Monday 25th July RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - streetdeckfan - 22 Jul 2022 (22 Jul 2022, 4:56 pm)Jimmi Gateshead Central Taxis will be the new operator of tendered service 104 between Newfield, Bishop Auckland & Ramshaw from Monday 25th July That's a very local service for them! RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - Jimmi - 22 Jul 2022 (22 Jul 2022, 5:09 pm)streetdeckfan That's a very local service for them!Similar sort of distance to the previous operators base in Blaydon albeit they used The Eden's depot to house the bus for the service |
