Think people have mentioned in this thread before they've tried this with no avail.

Bustimes shows that this MB Sprinter is being operated by GCT. It previously spent time in the North East as GNE 9071 on service H, the Newcastle hospital link, before GNE got similar 729 and 730 for that service.

Caught it this morning in Ryton, just a card on the dashboard with route number on display. Hopefully passengers will see it or else they could miss their bus.
RE: Gateshead Central Taxis
how can GCT afford such a modern fleet? Like i don't think a single one of there buses is more than like 4 year old that is in commercial service

I would imagine they lease them

It likely costs more over the lifespan of a bus to lease, but there's limited capital outlay. Perfect for an operator like GCT though, where they can send the buses back should they lose enough work to end up with a surplus.

GNE or any other large operator is going to need to the said bus for its entire lifespan, and they have access to capital to purchase outright.

Their work is predominantly contracted rather than commercial, so less risk.  Leasing costs (assuming they are leased) will likely be reflected in tender bids, and from what I can gather the fleet is well utilised.

TB23: https://bustimes.org/services/tb23-washington-wrekenton

The 90 must have really gone downhill, for this to happen.
Intrigued about the TB22 & TB23, are nexus disablity passes valid on taxibuses.

Saw a Facebook post a few days confirming that the K2 will return. Only put it in here as GCT ran it previously. If true then it might stay with GCT but could go to GNE

GCT - with the March, May and now July changes GCT have lost a lot of work (contract losses, services withdrawn)

They've got Renault Kangoo vans that say Bus Division on the back under the GCT logo.

It would be interesting to compare their pre-March 2022 PVR to their new PVR from 24 July. Even if they do win the K2 (which they are likely to, but Phoenix could be competitive!) then I still think it must be a significant reduction.

Yeah off the top of my head it was a big drop.

They lost the K1/K2 (1 bus), W1A/W2/W3 (3 buses), 6/552 (1 bus), 59/359 (1 bus), 319 (1 bus), 333 (1 bus). And then the PVR reduction on the 335 is a reduction of 2 buses.

That is all I can think of, apart from the evening/Sunday services - although there are probably some I've missed. In total that's quite a significant drop in PVR of around 10.

Are taxibuses full disability accessible?

Just asking as if the TB14 is operating Kibblesworth to Birtley/Barley Mow there will be a few passengers for the doctors surgery from Kibblesworth. Most of these passengers have those 'walkers on wheels' but I'm gathering there isn't much storage. Don't think I've ever seen a taxibus driver open a boot to get walkers etc in.
