RE: Electric vehicles - Adrian - 04 Feb 2022

(03 Feb 2022, 12:12 pm)ne14ne1 Cardiff Bus has just taken delivery of some Yutongs. Is GNE’s next batch going to be the longer wheel-based version like Cardiff’s?

Also, note the upside down road-strips on the livery. #CreatingRepetition Wink

Not the same, man... they're the other way up and at a different angle! Cardiff and District Violet? Big Grin

I knew I'd seen that Cardiff bus somewhere before!

How many buzzwords can you fit into 280 characters?

It everything is carefully considered then look at the half-arsed Sunderland & District Branding or Coaster.

The road strips on the E12 don't even look that nice.

RE: Electric vehicles - Ambassador - 04 Feb 2022

Best Impressions are probably more common than Stagecoach with their identikit branding attempts.

Surely there's some creative originality out there or is it just the old boys network sharing out the work again....

RE: Electric vehicles - omnicity4659 - 04 Feb 2022

The rise in identikit branding is probably something to do with him having to let go of his decent graphic designers, he's not capable of anything beyond basic shapes, simplistic wordmarks and naff colour schemes.

I've spoken to commercial and marketing teams from other bus companies who wouldn't go back to him.

It will reduce the amount of repainting that needs doing if Go Ahead and First Bus ever merge!

I know BI gets a good bashing on this forum, but they don't give the final yes or no

RE: Electric vehicles - Chris 1 - 04 Feb 2022

(03 Feb 2022, 1:32 pm)Omega54 i thought they were going to be the same length as the current ones which GNE already have. As GNE rarely gets anything over 11.5m and the E12 are 12.1m.

The Streetlight doesn't come in a 12m variant, neither did the Versa before that.  Previous 'full size' single decker Citaros, Solars & Renowns all came it at 12m or therabouts, so GNE are happy with that length if available.

The previous batches 2 of new vehicles purchased for the 53/54 services were all of the shorter variants - the Versa at 11.1m at Streetlight at 10.8m.  They subsequently went on to buy longer versions for other routes, so the E12 variant might not be a bad shout.

Of course not, but they are proposing the exact same design to pretty much every Customer. In most industries that would be not expected!

But at least these liveries are a lot better than the boring T&W PTE Yellow and White and the NBC Poppy Red that we had to put up with before deregulation in 1986, which lots of people seem to go want to go back toWink

They were like that because it was mainly painted liveries. Smart unified and simple.
They didn’t have the same vinyl/graphic design/printing tech as we do today.

Not sure how all these different brands add to the customer experience though.

One way around this, put a load of Solar Panels about 16ft to 18ft high off the surface off the depot yard, therefore they can double up as a source of electricity and undercover storage for the buses.

Looking through the thread, he's tweeted that to get a political response, as he later admits its not something they'd consider.

I don't think it's a bad move either. He's probably got the response he wanted, but it'll be interesting to see if the Scottish Government can step in where the UK Government refuse to.

As much as I'd love for them to go for the Electroliner for the Angel, I feel like they would discount it purely because it looks the same as the StreetDecks they already have on the Angel, so it doesn't stand out as being different

They could get Stenning to work his magic and make it look different.
Oh... On second thoughts. Maybe not.
