Replacing Washington's Omnicity's - Keeiajs - 10 Nov 2021

https://twitter.com/Bowes96Callum/status/1458489270314881024?s=20, I do wonder what streetlites they will get, maybe the 60's. There is 8 of them. I believe the PVR is 12. Which means they will need 4 more.

Idk because the country ranger/prince bishops buses make no sense. So maybe the 60's, and 4 high back 15' plate's.

Durham County Council paid for Euro 6, so I doubt they'll accept that

But what else do they have that is Euro 6.
Does anyone know how much a Euro 6 converstion actually is?

That's for GNE to cogetate, the subject of replacement has come up several times, and each time the reminder of Durham County funding for the OmniCity conversions arises...

Was it not South Tyneside Council who paid for thr Euro 6, as only 1 service serves County Durham but both services serve South Tyneside

Least they not bound to the same terms of stupidity as gateshead and Sunderland, whereby the operator had to keep the vehicles on Gateshead/sunderland route for 5yrs....least they can replace the omnis with younger euro 6 vehicles and not be penalised for it

I couldn't see on the Twitter feed where it said they were to be replaced with streetlites
. Be surprised if they do that especially with thr 50 being as busy as it gets.  The 26 is also busier compared to when 50 interworked with the 5

RE: Replacing Washington's Omnicity's - Keeiajs - 10 Nov 2021

But what streetlites will they use? My first thoughts are the 15' plates or drifters for obvious reasons.

This is my understanding too.

Is it a condition of the funding that any vehicles used to replace those that have benefited must be of the same Euro rating?

I know there is the potentially a note to say that the vehicles must operate mainly in the council area for however long, but not sure if they can really control the company's fleet plans long term once this period has ended.

Didn't get done in 2019, so that will be around 3 yrs. And they could be sold to A-line, or just act as Spares or Deptford/Washington/Peterlee

After a little Googling it looks South Tyneside Council were given £133,000 to improve 8 of GNE and SC's buses, so that's about £17k each.
Not sure if that's the full cost or just STC's contribution towards it though

Bloody Hell, I didn't realise it was that expensive, and I believe STC just contribute.

But the PVR for the 50/26 is 12 or 14, so GNE did pay for a few themselves it seems.

There were more buses than that, but it didn't specify the cost for the full batch, just that it was £133k for the extra 8

it is still quite expensive, i can see why independent will struggle

In theory the 9 electrics entering service at Riverside should release some Euro 6 Streetlites without a role. After they're in service on paper there's 18 buses for the 6/12/12A plus 5438 - 5441 I'm sure could be nabbed if needed (depending on who done the mods).

There's enough around if needed. The 15 plates are for the 49/49A and other Gateshead locals.

Those electric buses are to be put on the 57 (for some reason) and they have MB's.

To be fair, they knew exactly what they were getting in to when they signed the agreement for the mods.
Quite why they did it and why they thought that it was a good idea, is another matter.

Was South Tyneside, I do tend to recognise Counties rather than unitary authorities! I always use Co. Durham in address lines!

The Mercedes are (or will be when the 15 plates move across from Deptford) withdrawn. They we're swapped pretty much with them going on the 35/55 - not sure which hence the ones not needed are all up for sale.

Yeah, so they will replace with the 15' plate for 49/A/B/(C?). I am still struggling to find EUro 6 buses which they have spare for the 50/26
