RE: Arriva NE recent transfers - Train8261 - 23 Feb 2022

So I'm thinking all transfers are done I think

Jesmond got the Pulsars (4 more to enter service)
Ashington got the Commander
Belmont got the Centros
Stockton got the Omnilinks

It's been said many times the Omnilinks went to Darlington

(23 Feb 2022, 4:45 pm)Jimmi 1534/5/6 are all parked at Belmont currently, believe the plan was for them to be brought back into use there. 1923/4 were earmarked to go to Belmont on a previous allocation sheet but this didn't happen.
And the other plan was to use them for parts for the pulsars if they aren't going to come back into service

Some of the best build recent Wright buses the Commander's imo, much better than the Pulsar 2 which replaced them which are just riddled with rattles including the fire exit door which amazingly is still a problem on Streetlite's. Just progressively gotten worse Wright buses.

Tbh the Pulsars are actually really decent. 1541 MX61 AVO though sounds terrible

The Pulsars are awful imo. Rock hard suspension, rattles everywhere, feel extremely cheap and the engine is noisy (not in a nice way). Poorly built imo hate them when they're on the X7 over the Gemini's which are the total opposite.

They were awful when they were brand new in 2009 with rattles nevermind now.

Doesn't take much haha, just a downwards spiral imo as the Streetlite is even worse even known the few I've been on didn't seem too different to a Pulsar tbh.

Not sure I agree. They have some rattles for sure, but I travelled across to Corbridge on one (1495 I think) in the week and it was a pretty comfortable journey. Interior felt smart and performance was more than solid.

Reliability wise, they also seem to rarely have spells VOR - certainly compared to other vehicles of that age, or their replacements (i.e Daimler Streetlites).

As a fellow X7 passenger I don't think they are that bad, sure some of them rattle (likewise some of the Geminis have that horrible squeak next to the driver's cab), but that's probably down to a lack of TLC from Blyth depot and not an inherent build quality issue.

Maybe it's just me then, there's just something I don't like about them and it's hard to explain. Guess that's life though, one thing someone likes another hates.

That is true, I had a soft spot for Class 142 Pacers, and I know that makes me an oddball Big Grin

Ha I can't say much. I always had a soft spot for the Vario's as they had character even known they were pretty awful really.

"Character" is one way to put it Big Grin . I preferred the Metroriders.
