Tyne and Wear Metro
Update on Central Station:
Tyne and Wear Metro
Central Station is closed and trains will not be stopping at this station until further notice. This is due to a fire alarm activation. Go North East are accepting Metro tickets on bus services 27 between Monument and Heworth. We're sorry for any inconvenience.
If GNE are only accepting tickets on the 27, its going to fun.....
They were saying that GNE we're accepting tickets on all Go North East buses in the affected area before...

(30 Aug 2015, 1:24 pm)DanPicken Circa 1985.
Delays of 40 minutes this morning due to a failed train at Pallion. Second day in a row there has been issues - after an almost faultless summer.
A large number of people have been waiting 20+ mins and have seen Metros go past towards Airport out of service.
When a train eventually turns up, I perish the thought of what it's gonna be like... Comparable to Great North Run days, perhaps? #prayfordan

(03 Sep 2015, 6:41 am)Dan Probably would have taken me more time (would have to get a 53 from here to Redheugh Bridge and a 49 from there to Bensham afterwards) than the 56 to Gateshead, by the time a train turned up.
0638 train from Stadium of Light turned up at 0710, out of service.
0650 train turned up at about 0720, 30 mins late. At Heworth now and the delays are being extended even further as the driver is having to wait up to two minutes at each station to allow people to navigate their ways out of the maze of bodies.

It takes an absolute age to recover a broken down train on that part of the line. I don't know why they don't keep one of the shunters at Pelaw or something during the day, which would probably speed things up a bit.
(30 Aug 2015, 1:23 pm)R852 PRG A map showing what I'm guessing was the original Tyne & Wear Metro network was on display at the National Railway Museum yesterday.

(26 Aug 2015, 8:23 pm)aureolin I don't seem to be getting the actual alerts on delays, but I get an email every morning and night informing of a good service.
(03 Sep 2015, 8:30 am)BusLoverMum Yep. That's how it was at the end of the 80s. When you could get a ticket from felling to monument for a whopping 10p.
