Summer Fares Offer
Summer Fares Offer
(04 Aug 2021, 12:49 pm)6049 Think the 'Super Bubble wasn't great but still a storm in a tea cup. Agreed that the Sunderland ticket should end at the County Boundary, but we've got to remember that the aim of these fares is to encourage people back onto the buses and I think GNE have taken the decision to allow this to be included for that reason.

(04 Aug 2021, 12:42 pm)6049 As has already been mentioned, Springwell is in the City of Sunderland, yet it has an NE postcode.
(04 Aug 2021, 1:07 pm)MurdnunoC Using that logic you'd have include Low Westwood, Hamsterley Collery, and Hamsterley Mill as they all fall within NE17 (the first two) and NE39 (the latter).

Summer saving fares offers – now extended!
Today Fri 3rd Sep 2021
We're delighted to let you know that we're extending the offers beyond the summer, so you can continue to save across County Durham, Gateshead and the City of Sunderland.
We're also introducing new money saving fares in North Tyneside from 5 September (which includes journeys into Newcastle). Discounts across the rest of the network, including our £1 evening fare, also remain.

(03 Sep 2021, 11:59 am)MurdnunoC Is Newcastle a part of North Tyneside? Pretty sure the boundary line is just before Wallsend. Not the boundary lines count for much like. .

(03 Sep 2021, 12:38 pm)MurdnunoC I'm just interested how the 'Newcastle isn't in Borough of Gateshead so it shouldn't be included in the Gatehsead Borough ticket' mob will defend the decision to include Newcastle (and Ashington, Blyth, Cramlington..) in tbe North Tyeside ticket, despite not being in North Tyneside....
Aside from that, I think it is a positive step and I hope cheaper fares available on a more permanent basis going forward.

(03 Sep 2021, 7:21 pm)Adrian There's already a South Tyneside saver, priced the same as these offers, which covers the remaining area.

(03 Sep 2021, 8:44 pm)Ambassador How on earth they can justify it being more expensive to get from Jarrow or Hebburn or Pelaw to Newcastle versus the Northumberland is beyond me. Surely shorter journeys should be encouraged via cycling or public transport (yes I know the metro is an issue - large parts of those afore mentioned places aren’t covered by it)

(03 Sep 2021, 9:57 pm)Andreos1 I've had a couple of vinto tintos and haven't really been following this latest update.
From what I can gather, you're saying it's cheaper to travel in to Newcastle from Northumberland, than it is from Pelaw?!

(03 Sep 2021, 10:19 pm)Ambassador Yep, Blyth and Ashington in the North Tyneside zone so max single journey is £1.70, £3.10 return
More expensive to get from Gateshead Civic Centre to Newcastle than from Ashington. Utterly obsence
