Anyone know if the X9/X10 will be changed to single decker buses due to this. Or if really any double deckers should be operating especially ones which don't go through built up areas e.g 16A.

The general rule of thumb amongst enthusiasts is: if it's rare, get it ticked off!!

A red weather warning is quite a rare occurrence according to the Met Office.

It is Red and for good reason. looking at the worst, deckers should all be in bed by the time the wind hits 90mph. Sure the N21 can cope with streetlites tonight

Tbh, I would be taking Deckers of the X84/5. X9/X10, X21/X22.

And later on X1's, 56's, 21's.

It's only supposed to be heavy snow and 60mph winds down here, I'm sure the B5s will just breeze through it

Oh shit, forgot about that one.

might be worth GNE just getting all the double deckers they can off the major routes,

309/X9/X10/310/X21/X85/X84/X22.

And then hopefully get the rest off after 18:00.
If needs be change them out for routes which go through areas which are very bulit up e.g. 49/69/61/33N

The worst is due to hit around midnight so there won't be any buses, then, for the most part. The A1 and ecml north of Berwick have just been closed for the evening.

I'm not sure why this is this in GNE forum but it's Arriva who have potential for big problems tonight / cancellations.

The peak at Amble is 23:00 and tbe X18 can't really be swapped with anything as there's nothing to swap it with.

They urgently need to be pulled off there though 80mph gusts, a double decker and Alnmouth is asking for all sorts of trouble. Not to mention the issue with trees etc.

Could be hairy on the X7, X10/X11 and 308 aswell between Cramlington and Blyth or Seaton Sluice and Blyth with runs running until midnight.

(26 Nov 2021, 7:56 pm)Keeiajs Turns out GNE don't care about the wind.

Presumably buses are travelling at such slow speeds that it doesn't pose a risk.

It's a different scenario to when double-deck buses were running on the X9/X10 (A19 is very exposed to the wind, travelling at high speeds of 62mph). As mentioned above, some of the faster routes in Northumberland probably pose a greater risk to Arriva.
