X85 Farewell Event
X85 Farewell Event
(25 Jan 2022, 12:20 am)Storx It's alright my taxes will be keeping it running instead. I'm not sure why there's so many buses running around Hexham as it is when every other town in Northumberland has nothing of the sort.Berwick, Alnwick, Cramlington and Morpeth have their own lesser advertised town networks, roughly the same as Hexham's.
It's a place that badly needs a DRT system (or a few taxis) running to all the random routes like the 683, 686, 687 and soon to be 684 since they'd be able to use Ovingham Bridge. It would arguably be a better service anyway (connecting to the train stations for onward travel to Newcastle).

Very much looking forward to Saturday's X85 Farewell Event, hopefully it will be a success.

(28 Jan 2022, 11:38 am)cbma06 I thought it was more recent than that, I understand if it was a long lasting route of 20/30+ years , but having a farewell event like this for 8 years is a bit weird, I understand if it was a service like the X10 as that service is many decades old, I think it’s more like only fools and horses jolly boys outing , should of done a farewell event for all the bus services that was lost due to greed and profit than putting passengers first.

(28 Jan 2022, 11:20 am)Jimmi Dan has posted them in Facebook groups, so will share them here:
(28 Jan 2022, 11:51 am)Dan It's up to the County Durham Bus Preservation Group which events they'd like to organise.
Regardless of the context behind the event, as enthusiasts we should be thankful that we've got an opportunity to have a ride on up to three preserved vehicles this weekend (even if one is Andreos' favourite vehicle type!) - this type of event is usually restricted to the summer and preserved buses go into hibernation over the winter period.
I'm not sure what the relevance is of the politics of bus company operations?
