Depending on whether I can get the time off work, an NEB day trip is something I'd be interested in.

Got a reply from Jim Hughes this morning. Obviously the fares are subject to change depending on other company prices, but we need to be looking at about 30 people going to ensure we get a £15 fare each with JH.

Try WB Kerr, they can be contacted here. A fairly good company and nearby to Newcastle.

Got a reply from Stanley Travel just now - their prices are a hell of a lot more expensive than Jim Hughes' (sorry northtynelinks! Tongue)
Will keep you all updated with who is 'winning'. Wink

Try Thirwell Coaches of Swalwell; Rowells of Prudhoe; Hunters of Tantobie; or Nightingales of Stanley (just four companies that popped into my head).

I decided to go up Kingsley's This Morning as it was Nice and Sunny, and got the following Prices for Various Trips that would occur in the Month of August for a Total of 30+ People on 38 Seater Coach to make it easier for working out etc, rather doing one Trip for Each Month of the Year, Much like Jim Hughes, Kingsley's prices Vary during the different Seasons of the Year. Here are the Prices for 6 Possible Trips in August. Also we must take into account that with August being during 6 Weeks School Holidays that it will be more Expensive to do these Trips.

Edinburgh - £450 - £15 Per Person
Dunfermline - £500 - £16.60 Per Person
York - £320 - £10.60 Per Person
Glasgow - £400 - £13.30 Per Person (No idea how it's cheaper to go to Glasgow than it is to Edinburgh)
Liverpool - £420 - £14.00 Per Person
Blackpool - £400 - £13.30

Daniel if you'd like to make any further Enquiries to Kingsleys for the Winter/Spring and Autumn Months, to then compare prices better, here is Kingsley's Telephone Number - Tel: 0191 492 1299

Depending on how many of there you are could you not just book the Megabus or Nat Exp up to Edi?

Even take a train one way?

Megabus is a no-go as, if I recall correctly, the only suitable departure time from Newcastle is 4am.

Even if we only got 20 on a 38 seater coach to dunfermline, it's still only 25 quid a head. Would be near enough double that by train. I'll contact east coast as Adam mentioned group booking discount. No harm in having a price. Smile

The quotations I got from Kingsleys was for a 38 Seater, But if there was only 20 of us, then it would have to be a Smaller Vehicle as it would cost Kingsleys for Example more to Run for the Day, and be paying Extra for the 18 Heads that didn't bother coming, Which with a Smaller Vehicle would then also Result in the Cost of the Trip Overall being Cheaper also.

Double that? Huh

Edi - Newcastle is generally priced at a £10 each way unless you book really late. I've never paid more than a £10 in single and £23 in First.

Nat Express is about £9 each way but times are no good

Just realised I made slight mistake on the prices per person, as only calculated 30 People rather 38.

Correct Prices Per Person
Edinburgh - £450 - £11.84 Per Person
Dunfermline - £500 - £13.15 Per Person
York - £320 - £8.42 Per Person
Glasgow - £400 - £10.52 Per Person (No idea how it's cheaper to go to Glasgow than it is to Edinburgh)
Liverpool - £420 - £11.05 Per Person
Blackpool - £400 - £10.52 Per Person

Still looking like Jim Hughes will be the cheapest option for a 33-seater coach out of all the replies I've had so far (£450 for Dunfermline).

Just had a reply from Maynards about 20 minutes ago who may be able to price match JH or better them because it's an enthusiast trip. So let's hope! Wink
