It mentions the transfer of staff on the scholars work and others into Arriva, so guessing TUPE has applied in some cases.

Obviously there are those who have chosen to take redundancy and those who were made redundant.
Guessing there are some roles at Classic, that don't fit into the Arriva model too, like those staff who took bookings for holidays.

Hopefully staff can pool together to maybe set up a new operator...
Or maybe find employment within the recently expanded Jim Hughes operation!
Such a shame a great company has been sent to the wall. First the asset stripping by tellings and penny pinching by arriva. Feel for those i used to work with.

I never thought Classic would cease trading as i can recall not too long ago when it was the premier North East Coach operator and also a major Bus service provider but that was when it was a independent with the slogan no part of the Northern Group this was in the days of the Classicliner to rival Northern and its superliner.
A lot of coach drivers were transferred to Jim Hughes as I've seen then and recognised them
Yes i've seen a few former classic employees with jh coaches and arriva ( jesmond & durham ), will say when tgm took the vast majority of the skiplan & pgl work years ago and not forgetting the new coaches, then tgm lost the contracts ( not surprising in them days), classic were never going to be as good as they once were. Just hope jh coaches can be a good replacement.

Following the closure of the TGM North East depot in Annfield Plain we are pleased to confirm that on the 1st October 2014 Classic Coaches has joined with JH Coaches. JH Coaches is owned by the Shipley family who were the original founders of Classic Coaches way back in 1983, so once again we are family owned.
Both companies are moving to a new depot in Birtley in the next two weeks. We will post the new contact details soon.
Our Day Trip and Blackpool Express programmes will continue to operate as normal until the end of their current brochures (2014) We are currently working on the Day Trip and Blackpool Express progams for 2015.
Thank you for supporting Classic Coaches and we hope you will continue to do so in the future.

..and vehicles are now starting to appear on eBay too:

Great to see that the essence of classic will be continued by jh coaches, hopefully we'll see an expansion rather than a contraction as seen under the tgm & arriva days.
I'm looking for the Classic Buses timetable for the 23 or 23/23A if anybody has it available? Also the 184?

Classic seized trading in September
I know Classic operated the 23 about 4 years ago. Not recently.
Since Classic have ceased all operations and have completely cleared their Annfield Plain depot, there is still the caravans storage section (which they own). Not 1 person who has a caravan (or trailer for general use/business use) has been told what is happening whether they should be thinking about moving or whether another company has purchased the site. Very poor service.
Robert,
This information is factually incorrect... The site is owned by Arriva not Classic. We have not owned the site since October 2004, all contact regarding the site should be referred to John Stokoe - Property Manager, Arriva, Doxford Park, Sunderland, Tyne & Wear.

Yet if you look onto the gate it says 'Welcome to TGM Classic Newcastle Depot' and nothing about arriva owning the piece of land and all negotiations were done through classic themselves without any form of communication with arriva themselves post 2004.
