The repainting and refurbishment is a requirement of the BEE network contract, contract conditions set by a public body and the Mayor.

I can imagine if the same parameters were set for bus operation in Newcastle, people would want the yellow and white livery to return.

How is repainting hundreds (thousands?) of buses into a lurid yellow colour for a mayors vanity project not a waste of money, but GNE painting a few buses is?
Also atleast GNE's is presumably their money!

Outside of enthusiasts, I can't image much of a clamour for a livery last used nigh on 40 years ago?

Though that would be preferable to battlership grey

I'm quite partial to a 'primer grey'

Anyone know why 6064 is off

Does anyone know how the Berries and Green Arrow set alight or where 6062 is.

6064 was a trial conversion of a Volvo B5LH hybrid to diesel power only - it's not been highly successful so far by the look of it. I assume that it is off for some rectification work.

6062 last seen lying on its side in a field........
Cheers Busman
6199 and 6202 have been lying at salty for a canny while

Think the Berries and Green Arrow have been scrapped
The Berries Versa has definatley gone for scrap. Don't think the Green Arrow has been reported as going for scrap yet.

6062 is at Thorntons apparently.
What's the crack with 6058 being at Washington

Percy Main and Deptford seem to have loads of streetlites off, Riverside have a lot of Angels off. 6079 (Tyne Valley Ten), has been off since January, anyone know why

Replacement engines are very difficult to source, and have been for any months, especially for Wright products - I suspect that is why they are off.
Probably doesn't help that in the time period since Go North East received the Wright Streetlites that Wright Bus had gone bust and is now under new ownership. Though I wouldn't though it be too difficult to get the engines direct from the manufacturer (Cummins / Daimler depending on which Streetlite is knackered), probably more costly. Alternative is to get some Streetlites cheap off the second hand market and chop them up for parts.
Wow so 6062 is back, im actually surprised
