This argument again…

I think perhaps a few days grace after sizeable fleet movements, service changes and this cyber attack however the whole point in branding is that it does matter. Saying “oh well the bus turned up” or “I don’t care if it’s pink, yellow or green” fails to understand that you’re dismissing the whole purpose of branding. Yes a bus is a bus, but the branding is ‘supposed’ to help market the service, so wide scale examples of an Angel ending up in Hexham or an East Gateshead Rider operating South Shields to Durham defeats the purpose, whilst I appreciate there’s other factors at play.

I think its great marketing. get a angel 21 on the 10 to hexham someone might think wow, this is a great bus that normally runs on the 21 route to durham. ill get this rather than the train.... Branding job done!

In fact I am quite a happy person, however if GNE insists spending thousands on paint jobs they could at least go on the right route.
Just give it a break yeah. It doesn't matter what colour a bus is as long as you're getting from point A to point B. When it becomes an issue is if they allocate single deckers at peak times

I’d say the issue at the moment is more having someone to drive the wrongly coloured undersized bus
What happened to the 57 being a double-decker, it's been all singles today apart from 3962 being on for about 3 hours this morning.
The Tyne Valley Twelves look quite nice. I guess Blaydon is the gateway to the Tyne Valley.
What happened to the days of socially awkward young men with big cameras chasing after these wrong allocations? (Actually, I think I know the answer to that -they’re out chasing odd workings instead of moaning about them on here)
Well I must say I was bitterly disappointed this afternoon to find FIVE B5s out on the X21, how dare they allocate the proper buses for the route, I was hoping to get one of the new StreetDecks again.
I'm absolutely fuming

What are the longer term plan for the ex X45/X46 StreetDecks?
There's now 6 B5s out on the X21 according to BusTimes, can anyone confirm this. It seems very implausible that GNE are allocating the correct vehicles! Wink

No, but they're obviously concentrating on that for you today and putting green arrows, and x-lines green on the TEN group of services - I suppose they're all green, but still don't see the link to the Tyne Valley 12 like Smile

If they intend on keeping the 12 interworking with the TVT long term they could always renumber it to the 10C then its a 10, although under the original TEN brand when it was mercs there was an 11 so not having a 10 in isn't an issue

Wouldn't made sense that as it's just a different route completely so would be confusing apart from Newcastle and Blaydon especially considering it's one of the main routes for Newcastle to the Metro Centre.

Yer I get that, but what's the point of painting everything and getting all the specialised vinyl created just for them to be put on the wrong route? They are designed for a certain route, so why is it so hard for them to be put on that route? I understand how they are parked on night can affect it in the morning and especially with Washington due to the tight space which is a joke tbh but when it comes to Deptford and Riverside this shouldn't really be an issue.

As I said in my post further up the thread, it's not just parking in the depot that causes wrong allocations.
Odd allocations have always happened. Its just more noticeable now that every bus has to have a silly name or colour scheme.

This is one of the consequences of branding anything that moves though; you're putting all your cards on the table face up. Limiting your options to do about it, regardless of the initial reason, without it looking daft.
