As for the 33, I don't think it needs anything larger than a Solo myself judging by the loadings everytime I've seen it.

My guess is, due to the diversion towards the West End of Hexham then back via the A69 to Bridge End roundabout (a detour of approx 4-5 miles), the service may need a tachograph due to the added mileage thus the split. I don't think it will be a long-term thing, just for the duration of the closure.

Monday to Friday peak AM journeys will operate as 11X between Dunston, Lobley Hill, Gateshead, Newcastle and onto Cobalt providing replacement for withdrawn 58X trips.
