just cause it had stickers on the window.
and yeah silver arrows was a good brand.

I'd completely forgot that thing even existed.
I mean, as a concept I quite liked the punniness of it, but it looked dreadful!

I wonder what a more modern interpretation of it would look like

Just seen a branded 47 for the first time in person. The cream rear is awful IMO (and it was pretty clean. It’s going to look horrendous during the winter when the roads are dirty).

Where did the cream rear come from anyway? What does the cream tie in to, or what does it “represent”?

Along with the dark maroon it looks rather EYMSy, pre-rebrand.

Realistically, they've probably just ran out of colour options. When your whole model of branding is based around a colour with barely anything else to it, they don't really have many options without having services looking the same.

Then I wish they’d maybe made the rear blue to match the rebranded 10s and the nearby corporate coloured routes, but consistency is always rather hit and miss with them.

I would have personally gone for a green rear to link it with the other Consett services. While usually reds and greens don't really go together, I think the maroon and a paler green do work quite well.

Would any of these brands and colours work.
Example A: "This is the West Gateshead Heeders 49 Service to Winlaton" (Would be Painted Orange & Dark Blue)
Example B: "This is the East Durham Swift X6 Service to Sunderland" (Would be Painted Lilac & Beige)
Example C: "This is the Waldridge Wanderer 34 Service to Ouston" (Would be Painted Lime Green & Red)

The names all sound far too long, so I’m sure GNE would be all for them.

That looks better than the cream does!

I do like the green rear end although it should be a darker green

I'm guessing it is supposed to link with consett 'yellow' theme. Cream is kinda like yellow I suppose

That theory makes no sense then does it.

Isn't the tail of the red kite a creamy colour?

Correct, so the tail of the bus is also creamy in colour.

You’ve been watching too many tails.

Could be worse in the case of Streetdeck fan, they could have returned to the eyes.

Have any more been re painted yet? also how are other repaints progressing. It's gone very quiet on this  in the last couple of weeks especially since the re paint thread was stopped.

Tbh I think gne are handling a lot more than repaint after an article the other day threatening strike action (one reason being repaint)

But to be fair, a lot of it does relate to introduction of CAZ, I doubt there would be as much if vehicle reallocations werent going ahead in preparation for this. I agree it is bit excessive in regards to doing the 10s/Prnce Bishops and C&C, but then again cant imagine the latter 2 being done until new financial year

Let's be real, if GNE weren't repainting buses, the unions would find some other thing to complain about.
The repaints just happen to be an easy target to go after since they're out in the public!

I wonder how much GNE are spending on cleaning supplies for the buses, maybe if the buses were a bit dirtier then they could afford the extra 0.5% pay increase that would shut them up!

But if GNE don't invest in their product and create growth post covid, where will the money come from for wages?

That's exactly my point!

They only ever seem to focus on the short-term financial gains and never the long-term stability of the company. It seems to me unions would rather employees get a 100% pay rise and the company to go bust in a few years than get a smaller pay rise and the company to prosper!

Maybe bus drivers are living day to day with the cost of gas and electric rising so short term is all that matters at the moment?  Im sure the shareholders/ management wont be short of few quid.

At the risk of drifting off topic, surely that is the whole rason d'etre of the union?  To fight for better conditions for their members?  A bankrupt bus company is not in their interest.

Reading some of the comments bandied about online, it seems to me that this 'pay dispute' isn't just about pay.

Besides, even in the 'good' times they've always had to fight for 3-3.5%, so somewhat understandable the company pleading poverty now is falling on deaf ears.

I have some shares in GAG which I have bought through the sharesave plan than GAG has ran for employees in the past, and I can assure you, I am like the rest of the workforce when it comes to the cost of gas, electric along with petrol going up.

Just because folk own shares, it does not mean they are wealthy with flash cars and 6 bed detached houses!

So you would rather they paid you more in dividend than a increase in your wage ( assuming you still work there) ?

I reckon the big bosses of the investment funds that hold the majority of the shares do though!

That 1% you and ex-colleagues have on the other hand... They just receive the low salaries and hope to see those share values rocket.
Not likely to happen though is it?

Fill those minority employee shareholders with hope and aspiration, whilst paying peanuts.
It's one way of someone getting rich!
