(31 May 2015, 5:23 pm)Malarkey wrote The current Fleet Archive Document for Go North East on Simplygo, com in the Enthusiast Area goes back as far as January 6th 2003, so there is just over 12 Years of Fleet History, dont think anything has been removed from that Document either.

I recall Dan using it not so long ago when compiling individual Vehicle History for the NEB(GNE) Fleet List, before having rely on Flickr Searches and speaking to other Enthusiasts etc to find the relevant information that he required to ensure it was all up to date.

As well as fleet movements, there will be all sorts of records kept relating to fuel, maintenance, modifications, testing, tax, etc. Then possibly records relating to incident's, accidents and rtc's.
Not too different to when people keep documents for their car.

The difference being, me keeping a file of paperwork for my car, is a lot easier than an electronic record for hundreds of vehicles - which may also include details of BSOG, Green Bus Fund etc.

It makes sense having an electronic system, but I don't see why all of that information needs keeping after x years.
Fleet history - maybe.

It shouldn't be on the wit of beast to somehow translate the old data onto another format (keeping the relevant info) then delete it from the original system.

You'd be surprised mate. Funnily enough, most systems aren't designed to be ported across to a competitor. Even something that runs opensource, e.g. this forum software (MyBB) and the database engine (MySQL), requires quite a bit of work to convert.

Even converting something like odt to docx (or docx to pdf) takes a little bit of time and effort to sort out the formatting.

A question, looking on the GNE fleet news archives and found:

4th April 2003
With the transfer of 4 car workings on services 35/35A to South Shields, SPD 8201 - 8204 have
been transferred from Deptford to South Shields.

What were the 4 car workings?

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - May 2015 - Malarkey - 31 May 2015

(31 May 2015, 5:29 pm)Dan wrote Yes, I used it extensively to compile the history for each individual vehicle in the fleet. There was a number of movements missing, and it was actually Go North East's Fleet Administrator who confirmed these movements for me through the company's system they use to record fleet movements.

Prior to January 2003, all fleet movements were recorded on paper. These paper documents are all still at Chester-le-Street, where the Fleet Administrator used to be based prior to moving to Bensham. I don't think many (if any at all) have been destroyed, for reference purposes. I should pick them up for him next week - I'm going to be there plenty! Tongue
Could also fully update that Archive Document on Simplygo.com for Fleet Movements prior to January 2003 over a period of time, perhaps add in a few photos here and there of Vehicles over the Years.

Edit:
http://www.eyms.co.uk/enthusiasts/fleet-list?vehicletype=viewall - You could even make it like the EYMS Fleet List on their Website.

That just means South Shields Depot inherited four running boards worth of work from Deptford on services 35/35A.

The equivalent in the current network would be the 10/10A/10B split between Hexham and Riverside. If one depot was to gain more of the PVR, they'd have to receive more buses.

I hope you didn't literally take it as some sort of "car" service...

To be honest, I wouldn't imagine many would know what a "car working" was.

An office lacky, lots of copying/pasting or translating of relevant data - jobs a good un.

Might take a while, but once the back dated stuff is sorted, it shouldn't take much to keep on top of.

I do Mr Green, but I am convinced Michael did not...

To be honest I say 'car working' more than 'bus board'.

The Current Scheme was started in 1975 and is no where near used up 40 years later, so would imagine it would take at least another 40 years to fill.

I am aware that it will take many more years to complete the system but it will end eventually. It was just a general question to be thought about for the future and not to be answered properly.

NGT 1975 Numbering Scheme - also has the depot allocations at Oct 1976

I can't seem to remember route 65, I knew it went from Gateshead but where to?

Looking through the depot allocations I notice that there were depots located at Consett and Blackhill. A friend and I were actually discussing the old depot at Consett last week. According to my friend, the old Consett depot was located at the end of Sherburn Terrace approximately where Croxdale Autocentre and Ash Grove are now. No reason to doubt him, but is this true? Also, do you know where the Blackhill depot was located?

Which year? If recent, service 65 went from Gateshead to Dunston. It was the circular service along with the 64.

I think it was around 2004, and I have a photo of it in my room that I got from the bus rally, and it said that it went via the MetroCentre. It was using a Dennis Dart, 543 to be precise.

Yeah, I forgot it was extended beyond Dunston around about that time to replace services 613, 622 and 623 in the Crawcook and Greenside area. Service 64 was also extended and a service 65a was also introduced. 64 and 65 may have terminated in Chopwell and the 65a may have terminated at either Greenside or High Spen. I know the 65a ran direct between Ryton and Greenside via Woodside Lane.

Thanks, I was just trying to figure out where it terminated, it would have been a fairly good route!

It was no different any of the routes these service replaced. In fact, I think services M23/623 (and M20/620) were more interesting as at one point they started in Gateshead and operated via Newcastle and Metrocentre towards Chopwell.

I have tried to decipher the 'legend' of Vehicle Manufacturers and Body Builders.

I can guess Ld is Leyland and AEC is obvious, as is MCW, ECW, Roe, Dr Daimler, Bl Bristol, and LN Leyland National.
Pn will be Plaxton, Wk Willowbrook, Du Duple, Ar Alexander, Wn Weymann, PR Park Royal, Rm Routemaster, Bm Burlingham, and Ml Marshall.

Re is, presumably, Renown.

Phew!

If you are talking about the Re which follows AEC, then this will be the AEC Reliance, a mediumweight bus/coach chassis dating back to the 1950's and 60's

IIRC the 64/64A/65 went to Blackhall Mill at some point. Will have to check out my photos to see.
