Scania L94s aren't permitted to use the Centrelink, as these are slightly taller than a normal single-deck vehicle and they would potentially have a bash with the bridge if they did use it!

Aren't they not the same as the old Fusions though.

No - the roof pods on the top are the difference:

Scanias with air con pods do fit under the QE bridge on Centrelink, despite the signs saying that they don't.
Black Lane bridge has been altered with a lower clearance.  Officially there should be 2 inches to spare, but gne are not taking any chances.

Haven't there been dockers using the CentreLink before? I'm sure I read that on here.

They don't go under the low bridge. They turn off just before it (the way that the X66 uses to get back onto the Centrelink heading to Metrocentre).

I wouldn't fancy risking it, if all the signs tell me not to go under that bridge in a Scania L94!

does anyone know why it has been painted blue but only on top?

It relates to 'Visit Hexham' (something which Dan pointed out in previous discussion) and will form part of the revised branding that the new Optare Solo SRs arrive in coming months.

I understand some girders have been removed from underneath the bridge, so the height warning is incorrect.

I have read that the height warning at the Dun Cow is incorrect too and should be altered to read another 3 inches.

Rumour has it, the blue relates to the apparent colour of the River Tyne and the proximity of Hexham to the river.

Brown would be more appropriate, then Tongue

I do have to question why the Loop branding is being updated ONCE again in a matter of a couple of years(if that), just seems like a waste of time and money in my eyes, surely something like sorting out those unbranded sliver mercs in Sunderland would be higher up in the list?

Can't GNE not waited at least one more year or two where they could update the Loop by perhaps replace the current buses with newer ones because the current buses will no doubt go in a more back seat role by that time anyways.

Temporarily replaced with a standard LED destination display while the casing on the normal colour destination is being fixed by Hanover.

I believe 8310 has had its colour destination display removed as well.

Why has 4899 been swapped for 4896 at Stanley? Is it because 4899 is in the middle of a batch of vehicles unlike 4896 which is at the start or is it for some other reason?

4896 is the official float/reserve vehicle.

4899 was only there on loan to cover for 4896 while it was VOR for PSV test.

can anyone tell me why is there been a shuttle bus for a footbridge? i thought footbridges where only for walking on not for vehicle use.

(11 Jan 2016, 7:16 pm)buss14 wrote can anyone tell me why is there been a shuttle bus for a footbridge? i thought footbridges where only for walking on not for vehicle use.

There is no pedestrian access as the footbridge is closed for 10 days, so a shuttle service has been provided to get people from either side of the bridge. Runs all day and night.

The bus obviously doesn't use the footbridge - it has to do a loop around the Team Valley. See map below:

If you are referring to Chowdene Bridge and the use of temporary services CB1 & 93S the affected bridge is not a footbridge. It is  roadbridge with a normal sidewalk crossing the easy coast main line. Phase one of the bridge replacement resulted in a road closure and phase two closed the footway.
Go North East, Network Rail and Gateshead MBC have all communicated the details of the closure.

Surely that should read 'Free Bus', as I'm not sure what a Freebus is? Wink

No, it's not a mistake.

I'd assume this is what ASDA wanted Go North East to show, as this is what the commercial department requested was shown on the display.

I'm not too sure where "Sed'field" is - could you advise?
