RE: Go North East: 2014/15 Financial Year Order Predictions - Dan - 15 Mar 2015

(15 Mar 2015, 9:22 pm)tyresmoke Not to mention Omnicities are absolutely hopeless on a town route.
Struggled round a 15 with 4659 once, lost time horrendously!
GNE's OmniCitys are hopeless full stop (sorry, Michael!)

Arriva's examples appear to be set up in a much better way to yield more power, which DaveyBowyer will be surprised to hear...

Hehe, sorry!

When you compare them to the 55-reg Scania L94s on the Tynedalexpress, GNE's Omnis aren't particularly impressive. ANE's on the 685 are probably on-par, if not a bit quicker off the mark.

RE: Go North East: 2014/15 Financial Year Order Predictions - Davie - 15 Mar 2015

I only really said it because I'd love to get rid of Omnicities and I think the coaster services are due investment

The Euro4 ones have always seemed inferior even since new compared to Arriva's Euro3 versions. Still not fair that Jesmond nabbed our 07 plates and we got them replaced with well ruined 4652/4/8/9... Darlington have spent thousands getting theirs up to standard after Redcar had them

RE: Go North East: 2014/15 Financial Year Order Predictions - Adrian - 15 Mar 2015

Dare I mention the Omnis on the 21? Wink

Is 4659 the one that used to be at Jesmond as a spare for the 685 before being carted off to Ashington? If so, that one was great on the 685... Seemed to have even more power than the 07-plates, that's for sure, and it was more comfortable with the fabric seats.

No that was the other one, 4653. 4659 was at Stockton til it was pinched (or gladly given away?) - I seem to remember we'd just got it running spot on before it left... The remaining 3 seem to like spending most of their time in the depot between the odd trip to Peterlee...

Don't think Ashington like the Omni's, always seems to be one hanging around the bus station or on local routes...

They get used on the 418.

(15 Mar 2015, 6:32 pm)aureolin Try getting an Omnicity round the Village on the 86!

It's bad enough when a President makes it's way on there, and almost takes all the trees out in the process.

Nationals used to do it back in the day on the Washington circulars - did the 291/292 go that way?

The turning circle and manoeuvrability might be different like. Some of the Omnis remind me of a cruise ship at times!

Which turning circle are you thinking of? Are you thinking of the Brady Square terminus?

Can't remember Nationals on the Washington Circulars, but they'd certainly struggle going round Glebe Crescent, giving the parking around the church. As far as I can recall, we've had the Renault 'Minilink' bread vans, the Metroriders, Solos, and then the MPDs on the various forms of the 85/86 over the years.

Nah, the circle it takes to turn a vehicle Wink

Yeah, the 291 and 292 were like the W5/6 - 85/86, but went to/from Heworth. Did a big circular loop of Washington and used Nationals.
The 185 went through the Village and that was generally an Olympian.

Ahh right Smile my bad.

I believe the 185 (and X85) took a different route though? I seem to recall that they came up Emmerson Terrace, right at Daccs, around the Avenue, Village Lane, Abbey Road, and then back on to Parkway?

They may have done at some point - can remember one of the Washington minibuses definitely doing that route. Coming through the cut at Brady Square or coming from Barmston Court.
The times I used the 185, it went past JFK Est from Barmston and into the Village the back way, not going via Emmerson Terrace. Same in reverse.

RE: Go North East: 2014/15 Financial Year Order Predictions - Michael - 16 Mar 2015

Does anyone know how many spare Streetlites have being ordered?

RE: Go North East: 2014/15 Financial Year Order Predictions - Michael - 16 Mar 2015

(16 Mar 2015, 8:48 pm)citaro5284 Yes

RE: Go North East: 2014/15 Financial Year Order Predictions - Malarkey - 16 Mar 2015

(16 Mar 2015, 8:49 pm)Michael Tongue, how many?
Guessing 4, 1 Riverside - 1 Chester le Street - 2 Stanley

RE: Go North East: 2014/15 Financial Year Order Predictions - Malarkey - 16 Mar 2015

(16 Mar 2015, 9:07 pm)citaro5284 There was no spare artic.....
Well we will make that 3 then shall we, thought Riverside might of got a Spare for the X66 if a Streetlite is VOR, would also provide a Spare for the 53/54 if not on the X66 if one of there Streetlites are VOR, Thinking with Logic Citaro5284 Wink .
